Since I couldn't keep my 10g in my SD apartment, I decided on doing a fluval spec III mostly planted with maybe a few shrimp.
I have some fluorite subrstate on the way and am now looking into what sort of plants I can do on a nano. I assume the I am looking at mostly foreground plants. I want to keep the stock LEDs for now
Only CO2 I am considering would be a yeast ferment.

    Any plant/shrimp suggestions?

Any low light plants should be OK. I have a Fluval too but mine is a 2G at work. Since my tank is so small I just picked up a couple low light plants at WOF. I haven't been up and running for long but I used the same substrate as you.

Here is the picture at Day 1.

The substrate hasn't shown up yet, so all is just floating.

The LFS recommended and sold me the following:

    Java fern
    Elodia
    Ludwigia

I was able to steal about a gallon of water from his tanks, so hopefully that will help getting it jump-started.

My daughter has the same tank as you for her Betta. We have some sort of live plant in there not sure what it is but it seems to be doing good along with a moss ball.

I finally got the substrate. Need some foreground plants and some time for the dust to settle. Here it is so far.... Pico Day 1.jpg
