Growth or Most Improved Coral Contest *3 winners* of a $50 gift card to a sponsor of your choosing. -Please read in its entirety!- Contest: Post a photo here of a coral in your system, then in 6mo we'll request photos again and I'll post them side by side for voting. Discussion welcome on this thread. Entries accepted between now and January 5th. Final photos taken June 21st-30th. Meta data will be checked to ensure it's a new photo JUST taken. Who can play: Everyone BUT you must be a full or supporting member at the conclusion of the contest to be considered for the prize. See the page on how to become a member if you are not sure. Categories: LPS SPS Softie Number of Entries: One entry only, so pick which singular coral you want to enter. Winners: Will be decided by popular vote and judged on growth and or color improvement. Photos: - If you submit an initial photo please submit a second at the conclusion of the contest even if you believe you lost. Part of the fun is seeing what changes and what doesn't... even if the final photo is a skeleton. - Entries should be photographed from the same side/direction at the beginning as the end. - Quality of the photo, cropping and touching up should be the same on both. - If touching up it should be true to life and not fake. - Holding a measuring stick next to it may be a good idea. - Additional details about the coral, expected growth, conditions, etc. are welcome. Disqualifications: - If the original and final submission are not close in direction, angle, crop, quality of image, appears doctored, etc. then the BOD reserves the right to veto any submission. Tips: - If using a phone that lacks editing that's ok as long as the photo in clear. - Avoid taking photos under heavy blue lights only unless you know how to accurately adjust for color or have color filters. We're not taking photos of the blue man group (o: - Turn the intensity of the light up to take the photo if it looks too dark. But make a note what you did so you can repeat it!
