Month ago I got a phosban 150 reactor at DFS in Rhinelander during a tour. Salesman said I should try Seachem Seagel. Loaded it once and it seemed to work well and helped with my hair algae problem. After a couple weeks I put some BRS carbon in it. But after moving and adding rock I have a cyano bloom starting. I have enough Seagel for another load but I will need some more in the very need future.

What are the preferred media? Best bang for $$$.

Also how often to change the media?

Thanx all!

cyano... How long have you had your tank set up? Have you tested your Phosphate level?
Been setup since March. I need to get one. Had a phosphate test, had one never used it and now cant find it. I think my brs rock might have had something in it or it is all the slices in the sand. A friend and i split the sand and rock and we each algae outbreaks other than just atoms. HA and cyano.

How often is completely dependant on your tank and your levels.

The first time, probably replace after 2 weeks. If things are looking good then switch to every 6-8 weeks unless you observe something that warrants quicker.

Key is to start slowly and ramp up. More is not better. Use too much too fast and cause stress the corals particularly acros.

There is tons of information out available. Just do a bit of research before using.

Granular will be fine. I've already addressed the how often. Do more research to get a better guage for your tank.
