Geeze! I have a buddy in Mexico right now. I bet it is even cheaper there. I wonder what shipping and customs are like on corals from Mexico. Anybody know how that works?

I'm fairly certain you can't bring live animals into the US without an import permit from the federal Fish and Wildlife Service. You would also need a permit from your state of residence most likely. I've thought about going to Indonesia and buying a bunch of fish to bring back, but the process is as confusing as you would expect from a government program.

My cousin lives in Florida and reefs. He got 100lbs of fresh live rock for free from his LFS after buying a new tank. Bringing the ocean to Minnesota is expensive.
