The fish at DA are really nice as is their new fish setup.

I went in to pickup my pre-order fish and wound up leaving with the nicest little clown I've seen at a LFS in a long time.

Thanks Jake!

What type of clown? Please share pics :)

Its a small true perc that has an unusual amount of black on it for being so small. It is currently being drip acclimated so it would be hard to get a pic.

I believe Jake is open from 2-8 tomorrow. His hours are on his website.

nope. he has had regular hours for a while now

T-F, 2-8

I got the Scopas Tang from Jake, dripping right now. All the fish there look very healthy at Jake's store. Thanks Jake.

Hyper, that little true has some amazing color for it's size. Look forward to seeing pictures of it as it grows.

Ditto the thoughts on Jake's new fish setup, excellent! The Royal Gramma I picked up tonight is doing well and already nibbling a bit.

it will be a nice little shop to stop in every time i go towards the cities (its right on the way for me!).

i just finished dripping my royal grammas, my hydrometer put my water at 1.025 while his water was at 1.020, so dripping was a must. i bought two royal grammas, large and a small. instant pair!

I was looking at that clown yesterday, around three, very nice little guy.

The salinity was a little low but Jake said that's how they came in so he matched his systems to it. My refract measured it at 1.021 which isn't all that low. I've had fish shipped in much lower than that and the average seems to be 1.020-1.023. I think the wholesalers use a lower salt content because its cheaper and may be easier on the fish. I think reef people are used to a higher salinity than what many fish systems use.

BTW, the next time you are there, pick up one of his refractometers. IIRC, he has them at a good price.

Thanks for all of the compliments. I'm glad that everyone is enjoying their new fish. :)

We try to run our fish system around 1.020. This is generally less stressful on the fish, requires less salt, may or may not reduce parasites, and is what our vendor's salinity is.

The true percs that left, had very dark markings for their size. They will be beautiful fish when they are adults.

Refractometers: $42.99 for TCMAS members, Reg price. $44.99

Store Hours: Tuesday - Friday 2-8pm, by appointment Sat-Mon

Fish Update: In our order, of all the items, we DOA'd a cleaner shrimp and an anemone shrimp. Otherwise All of the fish and inverts seem happy and appear to be ich free on Day 2.

oops, i meant to say refractometer... i measured my salinity using a refractometer! heh, working at petsmart and telling everyone how to use the hydrometer has brainwashed me...
