how can you tell if a toadstool is dead?

Mine has blob poylps and you can wipe of of it off looks really weird

I heard David say that if it's kind of leathery, it's fine, but if it pretty much melts when you touch it, it's dead. Does it decintigrate when you touch it? If so, might as well get rid of it...

If there's anyone I can send a picture of the toadstool too that would be great.(lost my usb cables o gotta use the phone)

my toadstool was looking pretty bad (looked like it got stung by something). i touched it and it was pretty hard and dead looking. I hung with it and 6 weeks later it started looking fine again. toadstools are weird...

I order from them every 2 weeks

right now i has 2 naked perc's 2 black misbars and 10 lg misbar clowns
next order I'll be getting zoa's for the shop.(you can aways pm me if your interested)

I'm in love with the zoa's from there I got 26 on a rock they are orange middles and green outside's neon colors :)

ok i'm going to have ken come check it out when he get's home i'm dont know 100% if it's alive or not.

When a leather dies it will just crumble apart and stink. If its truly dead you will know.

Feel test: If you give it a gentle rub and it doesn't fall apart there is a good chance. All expect the very base should have a rubbery feel to it.

Smell test: If you take it out of the water and it stinks to high heaven then likely not going to make it.

From the description sounds like the blob stuff is more than just the normal slime excreation and likely not good.

If still uncertain and not seeing any issues with other inhabitants, just keep blowing off the stuff multiple times a day with a turkey baster and keep a close eye on it.
