It's official, I've switched my system over to zeovit. It's kinda fun doing something new. The hobby feels new again. Who all is doing zeo out there?

yup, mattb is in fl soakiing up the sun. I got some of my stuff from him. just trying to encourage more discussion of zeo issues in our local club forum. The more of us that are doing it the better.
Honestly, there is no reason to run zeo on any system other than those that are sps dominated ones. IMHO, zeo info on RC isn't too hot, there was a major fallout about 3-4 years ago with most of the original users.... I think Frankie R and Bogg are two guys that show up sometimes on RC...
A couple things, there is little known in the scientific world about trace elements and corals. Often times one supplement will impact one users corals and not another, does that mean the product is snake oil? Not necessarily. However, I wouldn't dose any supplement ( that supposedly helps with coral coloration) unless you are close to being ULN. Why? If your nutrients are higher than those found in NSW, the zoox density WILL be higher and will hide some of the corals pigments.
This also isn't an overnight change ( with one exception) in coral color. Better go slowly....

Agreed here. Mattb is THE expert here but here are some of my experiences.
I started Zeo in my 180G last August and so far like it a lot. As Matt said it does the most for a SPS dominated tank however I saw a nice change also to the softies which I had previous in a non-Zeo setup.
Mainly I got dosing suggestions and help from the Zeovit forum. They guide you very well through the startup process but after a while you get a feeling for what to dose or not and how much.
Most important to make it work is to keep the main water parameters stable and NSW. Most important are Alk, Ca, Mag and Potassium.
Biggest problem I saw was getting the right salt which has the recommended levels for Zeo. Most salt have an Alk level to high for Zeo.
There is a salt out there called "Reefers best" which I supposed to be very good but also very expensive and as you can"t get it locally it is just way to expensive IMO.
I tried for a while Coralife which actually was very good and had good levels but recently I noticed they started having elevated levels in Ca and Alk and I started to run into trouble as levels were too high after every water change and I constantly had to adjust the 2-Part dosing and looked for alternative.
Reef Crystals didn't do it all for me which doesn't mean it is a bad salt it just didn't work. Also I didn't like the brown residue I had in the container and on the powerheads and heater after mixing SW.
Always wanted to try the Tunze salt and got recently a bucket to try it out. It is really good. Dissolves very fast, no residue at all and the parameters are all near SW. Especially the Alk level being around 7.5 is very nice. Now I don't have to adjust the 2-part dosing anymore and the corals seem to like the salt a lot. And the best thing is I can get it locally now. Bulkreefsupply just took it in their program.

Myself I use gettankedaquariums saltmix there formula #2 is just perfect for zeo users, it's like you said not cheap but some time not having to hassle with finding or getting to that right mix is worth the extra price,Plus I get his dry form potassium and it's a fraction of the price of K-balance. plus garry is awesome to deal with.

Michael is correct, by far, whatever salt you use with ZEO, you need to use one that has close to NSW alkalinity level. There are many pet theories out there, none which have much merit scientifically. I like Michael have noticed certan salts leave a residue. While it may not be a big deal, potentially just CaCO3 precipitate, many manufacturers are using organics to make salt dissolve faster, or for packaging better. In trying a new salt over the past couple of months, I surprisingly saw ORP increase after water changes, and now my tank runs a good 100mv higher. The params aren't quite right, but to me, that's a good indicator that the salt may have less organics/EDTA etc in them ( note: I did follow the same water regimin and no other variables changed).
I have the gettanked aquarium salt #2 and will be using it on my 150 setup. IMHO it's not that expensive as it's one of the few salts that are priced at 150g at 1.0264/35% which is where most of the reefs are at (except the Red Sea).
The thing you have to watch when using KCl is that when a lot is used, you can influence ionic balance. Ideally, you'd be using a balanced Cl/SO4 solution a la two part.....
