Doing zeovit (1 Viewer)

I am running UltraLith Zeo. Basically the same rocks as reg Zeo. I am not dosing anything yet. Just order UltraLith Ultra Bak, Ultra Min, Ultra Bio.

Also, will be starting the Balling Light Method in about a week.

on thing though, if you start Zeo DO NOT just stop running it. you WILL crash the tank. unfortunate but true. i experienced that first hand . you can't get lazy with the dosing. but even knowing that i fully intent to go back to it wen i get my new tank set up

what all are you dosing maxreefer?

Sorry for the late reply. Travelling for work here and not that much online.

Besides the Basic 4 I dose also:

Coral Vitalizer
Pohl's Extra
Coral Snow
PIF
Sponge Power
B-Balance
ZZ (Zeozym)
Amino Acid
ZeoSpur Macroelements

I didn't dose all those from the beginning of course. Depending on what stage I was I added them one after another. Also I don't dose all of them on a daily basis. Some daily some twice a week etc.

I use ZZ (Zeozym) once a week. Let it sit overnight together with a few drops of Zeobak and shortly before doing I add some Coral Snow. Dose it with the skimmer off for about 2 hours. It seems to work pretty well for me. The glass stays crystal clear and maybe once every 10 days I just have to wipe off the glass which is actually not even necessarry.

I test also the water once a week for Potassium which seems to be an important factor. I use their K+ test kit. Also with the Tunze salt I am always in the range between 380 and 400 which is recommended.

Your Monti's tend to show when your K is low as well.... They look "dry"....

This whole thing is very interesting to me and it can yield some truly stunning results from what I've seen. I'm too chicken though to do something this intensive, especially after learning that to stop or screw up is to kill everything. EEK!

I currently only have postassium iodide and flouride. Do I need straight up potassium for dosing?

No, you'll need a Potassium supplement as Potassium Iodide doesn't contain much K. I'll have to get over there this week and test for you.... K is something you do not want to overdo either.....

Nice Matt, you can be the guinea pig for me :beerchug: Do you have the reactor set up yet?

I have NOT been kicking around any ideas of doing this! I've got my hands full figuring out the basics to my satisfaction.

I'm keeping an eye over here though, maybe some day when the basics are second nature. :)

Good luck

Ken, start kicking up the K! You have the corals to do it and the colors are screaming to come out!! :greenguy:

I'm Not! :Love new technology.

What salt are you using at the moment?

With the Tunze salt (BRS has it now) I am using now I don't have to dose any K+ at all.
By doing a weekly 10% WC it stays very nice in the recommended range 380-400.

Reef crystals, but I only do 5% weekly change. That is part of the reason I am thinking of doing the Neo Zeo system, seems a little cheaper as I am on a budget and running out of cash for my Aquarium addiction. My understanding is being on one of these systems will allow you to do smaller water changes.
