Do these eliminate the need to have powerheads placed throughout the tank? The price on one of these isn't much more than 4 tunze nanostreams, and I like the rocking motion and full water movement. Does anyone have one?

depend how big is your tank. anything like 30G, maybe.
usually wavebox is use to make the wave(rocking back/forward) motion.
Ya, usually you will have a cheep high-flow-low pressure pump to keep the water moving around, the wave from the box agitates partials so they don't settle.
