FISHES?? (1 Viewer)

first guy is a black clown goby, peaceful and very easy to keep. some people love them, some don't. they are also not the best to keep with sps as they tend to sit on it and sometimes he hurt sps(from what i read, never experience and i could be wrong).

2nd is a neon dotty back, size for size, one of the most aggressive and pain in the butt fish ever!!!! PERIOD! a damsel is docile compared to that.

the jawfish will be fine with 2in(minimum!!!) sand given you provide a nice rock for it to burrow under. I have kept mine happy for a year with 2in sand until my powerhead fell off and kicked up the sand, my tank just crashed after that. otherwise it still be live and kicking today.

I had a jawfish in two inch sand bed, but I had the rocks ontop of some pvc cut out so they were not supported by the sand. That way when the fish and shrimp burrowed underneath the rocks don't fall down.

I had a Neon Dottyback for years. Although it looked cool, he was the meanest fish in the tank. Everytime I tried to put in a new fish, no matter the size, he would attack it!! And, they won't die! Mine was sucked into the sump, run through the pump and all the piping, and ended up stuck in my outflow tube. It was too fat to fit through the outflow. I took the outflow pipe apart and saved him. Another time he jumped out of the tank and was on the floor for at least an hour while I was eating lunch. Again, he lived. This was early on when I first got him. Had I known then what a pain he would be, I would have never put him back in the tank. He was impossible to catch. I hate to see a fish die, but I was happy when this one bit the dust!

I wouldnt do the jaw fish if the tank is smaller than 15 gallons they are usually peaceful but in smaller tanks they can get more agressive around there burrow. If i were you I would do a High fin goby or yashi goby with the pistol shrimp... with those gobys I am sure that they would pair up with the pistol shrimp. another thing... I have clown gobys and I love them but If you want more than one goby in the tank I wouldnt do them becuase I have a black one that picks on the high fin and on some of the smaller clown gobys

I have a yellow watchmen goby and used to have a candy striped pistol shrimp they were great in the tank until they had a domestic and separated lol they moved to opposite sides of the tank. The shrimp still dug holes for the goby and the goby would bring food to the shrimp. They stayed apart untill my shrimp vanished one day, But my crabs looked happy!

I also bought the $1.99 Atlantic Pistol shrimp and Fritz told me that the atlantic pistol shrimp will kill a watchman goby if you try to pair them...
