This is my second post here, first being in a thread about a tank that's for sale. I've been interested in salt water tanks for a long time but I had never really known anyone who was into them or even how to start such a thing. Aberrix and Lurch turned me onto this place, I've been doing plenty of research and learning over the past few weeks so I have a fairly good understanding about how these things work. I like building and maintaining things it seems (I plant a garden every year, things like that) so I'm looking forward to getting a salt water tank set up.

Welcome to the addiction.

Nice to have another friends on the boards.

No kids, no significant other... I enjoy my toys. :)

Welcome where you from? And what you planning on setting up for a tank?
I live in Shoreview. Aberrix and Lurch pointed out that 46 gallon bow front to me and I'm going to try to pick that up. I'm in no rush to set up a tank, I just want to do it right the first time with the correct equipment.

The thought of a tank around 55 gallons or larger just doesn't appeal to me right now. I like the physical size of something around 3' wide. It'll be plenty to get me started.

I live in Coon Rapids and work in Vadnais Heights off of 96 right between 35E and 35W - happy to swing by if you need any help - not that I am an expert....

Just to show how much I don't know I did some looking around online and found that you can get tanks around 50 to 55 gallons that are 36" wide, they're just taller than something like a 40. I like the idea of a tall tank that would allow for taller rock formations. I'm working on a WTB post so hopefully I can start collecting equipment soon.
