agent462's 220 rimless shallow peninsula reef (1 Viewer)

works for me let me know when you need help.

i'd go to that meeting and help for sure! just be sure to have beer and sloppy joes for us.

Thanks!

BTW - If you ever need any help let me know. I am in Eagan - not too far from Prior Lake. Just let me know.

Thanks for the offers. Since a lot of the work is going to starting soon maybe I'll just offer some open invites on the weekends coming up. I was also going to try and take a few days off of work around the time the tank comes. I'd like to get the stand built, tank inside and plumbing done so i can start the cycle.

If you're interested stay tuned here and I'll post when the open invites are for. Food, Beverage and all the puppy kisses (2 puppies) you can handle can be supplied :)

Well no real progress has been made besides getting some more stuff. I was in San Francisco all last week and then got sick over the weekend. Maybe I'll start doing some things this week.

Here is the new stuff:

Reactor to run Carbon in and pump

The carbon (phosphate free)

My second light fixture finally came in

Ok I actually was able to get some stuff done today. I was able to build the stand for my new frag setup and coated it with a couple of coats of Kilz. I still need to cut some plywood to hold the sump.

My frag setup is two separate tanks that go to the same sump. I can then control the light and flow on each tank separately. I'll also be running carbon there for any sorts of chemical warfare.

Tomorrow I want to finish the stand and probably get the tanks plumbed up.

I'm picking up my main sump tomorrow from bob@reefmania

The packages I got this week were a Reefkeeper lite that will run my water station, 100 pounds of dry rock (still need more), and a pump for frag setup.

3/4" ply and i'm picking up some pink stuff from HD tomorrow. Put the tanks up there just to pose for the pictures.

Yep, 48"x24"x8". I haven't bought lighting for it yet but I think I'm going to do two separate 150w MH so I can pull them up and down as needed for whatever is in the tank.

Nice, That's what I figured, but never hurts to make sure ;) If it was glass with bracing underneath it wouldn't need support throughout. When is your rimless coming?

No word on the tank being done yet. They were supposed to get the tempered piece they ordered at the beginning of last week. I'll shoot them an email tomorrow or Monday.

Picked up my main sump today from bob@reefmania. 48 x 24 x 18 3/8" material. Great looking sump.

I was able to get the bottom ply for the frag tank cut and put the first coat of Kilz on. Had to also run to HD to get some pink stuff and some other plumbing supplies. Ran out of time to really do anything else as the gf and I are going to see a movie. I'll probably get a little more work done later tonight, we'll see.

nice. what is your flow design? looks like you'd be able to fit quite the skimmer in there. you also said it had room for two reactors?

Nice, love the cup holders :beerchug:

Believe me, there is nothing like drinking a beer while playing in the sump. Why didn't I think of beer holders before I built mine? Will add this when I upgrade.

I've got two 1.5" drains coming in to an Octopus Extreme 250 (got a great price on a new one and it will hold me over for awhile as my bio load will be low) to the return chamber. I have two panworld return pumps returning it from the basement sump. I'll have a calc reactor and carbon reactor also feeding into the return area. I'll most likely have a dosing pump for kalk. I want to see how stable it is first. I'll have a large refuge that will run lights at night fed from a T in one of the return pumps.

Impressive build. Which controller have you chosen for your primary display?
Most likely a RK Elite. I have one on my current tank and really like their modular approach. I'm really looking forward to their 2.0 firmware update coming soon.

What reef is complete without cup holders? Just don't pass out while working on the sump without a life jacket on.

Nice sump! Bob Porter does great work! He made my RO chamber custom to fit under my stand next to my sump.

Wow, just checked this thread out. Sweet build man! This is going to be one killer system!

Watching with interest...

After we talked I found this thread... I guess you're going big. That is going to be one nice setup. :beerchug:

They still have the acrylic in the overflow to produce which will be tomorrow and they can ship it Friday for arrival on Wednesday but I'm going to ask them to deliver for pickup after the 17th. I'll be in Austin at SXSW from the 11-17th so it's just cutting it too close.

Here is the tank!
edit for reference: 72" x 40" x 18"
