the stand is being built now, does your oven have room to powdercoat a 36'' x 36'' x 36'' stand?

LOL, care to share? the stand should be done in a few days, i will, after figuring out if im powder coating the stand or painting it, put on the top.

i'm going to use 3/4 '' ply, of which i will glue on strips on Paduak to the ends so that it looks like the whole thing is Paduak when it is on there. I had tabs welded to the back with screw holes so the whole thing can be facaded with wood and you would never know it was made out of steel.

Some of you were asking if the stand would be angle iron and the answer is no. we decided to go with 2'' square tube steel =)

Have you measured your doorway? I was going to go with the same dimensions up until measuring. Will be going with 32" tall so I don't have to dismantle the door jam.

the stand is done! the stand is done!!!! just got the call from the welders! i'm gonna get it in in the morning and start on the facing!!! whoohoo!!!
 
no, i'm just gonna paint it. the more i looked into it the bigger the hassle to get this done is.
 
Hey,
If you need help with the wood part let me know. I have a shop. Don't use it much anymore but have all the necessities.

I should start trading. Jointer for tank? Anyone, anyone? ;-) Throw in a clamp & some wood glue!

Now go study!

how big of a jointer?

i have a nice shop myself, but my little six inch jointer sucks, i want one iwth a 6 foot bed!
 
here is my luck! so i got the stand today, i get done painting it, grab my camera to take a pic and BOOM! dead battery. I got to get the charger and BOOM lost charger =(

so i guess no pics untill i find the dumb thing. but i will be putting the plywood on top soon =)
 
lol if you wanna come over on sunday you can, my sister came over and babysat a few days ago and decided to clean the house, i cant find anything!!!

I cut the top and glued the first two strips of padauk on the sides. more work on sunday!
 
If you haven't decided yet I recommend Wenge...I use it a lot in my designs (Interior Designer) and it is so beautiful. Nice and dark all the way through, and just a natural oil rub twice a year for maintenance.
