I wish I could fight with my wife about what equipment to buy. So ozone is hard on equipment?

ozone will wear on some materials and shorten the life of some materials.... Is it that noticable... Idk never ran it.... Some people do some don't.... I've seen a lot of tanks who run it with amazing results... Can the results be attibuted soley to ozone? Probably not.... But CAN it enhance the aquariums beauty... I think there is enough evedence too say yes

Clint- I didn't mean to imply flow randomizers werent effective. It just my thought that longer duty cycles on the flow direction help stir up detritus better than short. Of course, with wavemakers, you won't have a dead spot anywhere.

it is hell on cast acrylic, it becomes super brittle.

How fast of a process is it though.... Let's say the skimmer is designed to last 10 yrs.... Will ozone make it last 6? There will be a better skimmer in 6 yrs anyway and I'm willing to bet regardless the skimmer will be upgraded by then

depending on how much you run i know that i lost a brand new Euro-reef RS220 in about 6 months. i picked it up to clean it and the stupid this just cracked (and i was not being ruff with it!) there are things you can do to get the binders that O3 does without wrecking your gear. infact i'm not so sure O3 is run all that often no more. with ZEO Probido, good GFO it just seems like you could do the same thing safer.

no NPS corals? I think with a few modifications to your system, you'd be able to support some interesting corals.

some fish I'd concider, more angels (regal, gold, Genicanthus Sp.), deepwater anthias, orchid dottybacks, cardinals (banggai, red belted, red spot), pipefish.

if you were setup to support NPS, just think about the feather starfish, sea apple, tube anemone, and everything else.

just tossing this out there.

the hobby has reached a point that so much more is possible. having such a large tank also allows for things that'd be more difficult with a smaller tank.

Chad- outa curriosity what changes are you thinking? To be honest the ammount of phyto needed to support some other nps creatures like feather stars scares me.... The ammount I'm going to be feeding alrerady has me on edge.....

I'm deffinetly going to have some nps corals in the tank but the nps inverts really scare me

I'm guessing ozone is run in less than 15 percent of aquariums, so you are right on the uncomon thing... I'm honestly trying to run this system as simple as possible and I don't want to have to many different things to watch.... I've been on rc chatting with a few people who run ozone and I found most that do not run at the recomended ammounts for different reasons.... Most common is the wear on equipment.... Typical response was they keep it at .01 to .015... Not the .03 that's recomended...

Has anyone run zeovit on a lps dominated tanks?

I ran ZEO on a mixed reef. it works well but the LPS wont color up as much as the SPS will.

no logic, i started it as a SPS tank and slowly added LPS and when they lived i added a few more. i never tried Softies though so i cant offer anything toward that.

With edible body dust dumped on it lmao

Wow - love how you add to the discussion on the merits of ZEO, Ozone etc...

The dirty sump is gone man - no place here for "edible body dust" - please take that to a different club

First livestock purchase for this tank will be picked up on thursday... It will sit in the 30 gallong long zoanthid tank for the next few months.... Thank for the amazing deal bkoppes on some red hornets......
