You planning on running 2 fixtures for the 6' width? That should give you good coverage depending on height of the fixtures. Might have to go with 3 depending on how your setting it up. are you having a canopy at all or just open top?

Well because I'm on page 8 I figure at some point you all want to see a picture or two.... I'm heading to the prospective site here in a few hours and I will gladly take and POST some pictures for where the fish room will be and tank placement!!!

As far as a canopy goes, I'm going to mount the canopy so the whole unit will be mobile... The sides will open up and fold into the canopy... This way I will be able to get into all areas of the tank. The stand is going to be a ft longer than the tank so I can stand and get to the middle of the tank... 3 removable pannels so I can do some basic maintence under the tank as well...

I just started thinking here, if you decide to go with the cultured stone on the stand, it's going to make it pretty tough to remove the stand panels to get under the tank. Just another thing to think about....

I thought about that right after we got off the phone with each other... And cultured stone border with a nice wood center that is easily removed

First pic is of the site of the fish room.. We would be closing it off but leaving the sliding door... Room size 15x10... 2nd pic is where tank will go, right next to the box so when I have some electrical work done it will be easy...

Actually, cultured stone with a wood "frame" would be awesome. It might be on the heavy side, so you'll have to get that sorted out, but it still holds the possibility to work though.

hmmm, room is 15x10? We were talking last about a 6 foot tank with a 1 foot "bar" edge all around.....that only leaves a foot of room to stand on the sides to look at it. YIKES! You could maybe push it up against a wall so it's actually only 2 sided viewable?

OR, Push it into the corner for 2 sided viewable in the room.....then on the wall that's not the fish room, cut out the wall, studs (making sure it's still structurally sound), and put a frame on the hole so from that side it looks like it's an in-wall. I guess that's what Chad is doing, right?

I would do 2 of the ATI 10 bulb 60” fixtures. That would be enough light no problem. I am working out a trade to get rid of 1 of my 2 fixtures as i am typing this leaving me with 1 10 bulb fixture over a 48x48 footprint on a 28“ tall tank. The light spread is still really good. I think that that the 60” 10 bulb fixtures would easily be able to light a 72”x48“ area pretty well. over a 72x72 area you would have no problems. The only problem you will see is trying to get the bulb combinations correct for you liking. :)
