That's a rhizo, they come in a few colors, white is the cheapest, red being the highest priced and some have really cool "flames" towards the middle, there's a much smaller half died off rhizo directly below the larger one, it's a buddy's and semi hidden because it's ugly.

yeah, I like my biocube. I always forget to do the turkey baster thing, and then about once a week, the "dust storm" blows in...

At the moment I am trying different things. Top has Cheato. Second chamber has Fluval Series C Carbon bag. (Fits perfectly in the chamber) and a couple of pieces of rubble rock in the 3rd (bottom). No skimmer. I do bi-weekly 5g water changes.
