Have you guys ever seen a urchin eat a Hawkins Blue Echinata sps. I have never had a problem with him but I woke up this morning and my frag was destroyed :mad: im thinking it was him by the way my frag looks.

Hawkins blue is a VERY difficult acropora that can RTN overnight. I doubt the urchin ate it.

RTN means Rapid Tissue Necrosis. Basically the flesh melts off the skeleton.

If the branches disappeared, something had to eat it. Do you have any puffers, parrotfish, large wrasse, or triggers in your reef?

Yes, I have had longspined urchins eat sps. Tuxedos seem to be ok, no issues here.

I had a black spine urchine and never had any problem with my corals. No that doesnt mean they dont. But thats my experience.

I too have not had any problems with a black spine urchin and my corals. Every once in a while the lil' bastard will get me though. :mad_3:

I have had longspines munch on coral before, but it's usually a distinct white streak with chomp marks. I agree that Hawkins is a very delicate coral and I've had several frags RTN that was no fault of the urchin.
