has anyone on here had both? does the color spectrum in the radions make a noticeable difference in the corals?

So far, as far as aethetics go for my personal tastes ( I've never been a really blue tank kind of guy ), I like the 12K setting on the Radion and the 14k setting is okay but still a tad too blue. I haven't been able to find on the AI SOL anything that I like aesthetically yet. Everything is just too blue for my liking. For spread I'm definately seeing what others have said to really compare them you need 2 AI SOL to cover the area as adequately as the Radion. With that in mind the costs are pretty much the same. Now if you happen to run both at full intensity the SOL blows away the becuase it is much more focused. But for me that is unimportant since I can't even run the Radion more then 50% intensity anyways without crispy corals so why would I want/need even more intensity.

But there has been a definate downside to the Radion as well ( So far ). I haven't been able to find the right combination of settings to keep corals from getting really pastel under the Radion. Acros/SPS/LPS all are getting very light colored. Ryan Turner experienced this as well after talking to him at SWE one day. Garrett runs it in 20K mode and says everything is fine but I can't stand the look of the 20K for my tastes. I'm running at 50% in a 180g tank, ran 12k for about 4 hours, I did cut down to just 1 hour the rest of the day 14k look. I'm going to have to cut it down to only 14k, if still doesn't solve will have to start looking into custom setting and tweaking down the red even more. I'm thinking the red is the cause but wouldn't swear on a stack of Bibles that it is the case just my hunch.

do you have the AI Blue or the White? i got the White and i haven't noticed the blue (granted i have only been playing with it for like 25 minutes)

The sol is running at below 50% at wet world and if you like blue like I do then it has good features. I haven't seen the radion yet though.

yeah it was at 30% when i was there.

I am running the Sol Blues and I dont think that they are too blue, I have never been a big fan of a blue tank. I am running mine with the Royal Blues going up to 60% at the highest setting. I thought I was getting a little better color with the RB turned up and my few pieces of sps seem to be really taking off. I have also noticed two frags of the same birdsnest colony, same depth, side by side in the tank and one has greened up and the other is staying pink. I dont know what thats about. I'm going to swap them around to see if they are positioned just right that they are getting different colored light.

Radion from what I can tell has made my SPS grow like crazy! Colors all look good, I was originally running at 12k, then went to 20k. After the 20k look I decided to get more growth and moved to 18k. Seemed to piss the corals off a little but are still growing like nuts!

I was running MH before so cant compare the AI to the Radion for the same tank. Radion does offer more color options and features though with their software. Radion vs MH I would say the Radion puts out more light or intensity than a 250w Radium. Colors have been about the same until I change something and piss them off again! lol
