Sponsor-A-Newbie Program (1 Viewer)

I'm Derek and I need a sponsor. I just set up a IM Nuvo 16 nano. It's been cycling with live rock and sand for the last 16 days while I've been out of town. I live in the Battle Creek area of St. Paul.

Too bad my parents won't go to meetings or anything like that with me :( I just need to meet people being that I feel my tank is well. Just redoing my sump soon because now that it is running it isn't working out so well... I think Angie has me covered though at this meeting if I manage to see her :beerchug:

I'm in the Golden Valley area if anyone would like to talk reefing, I've been doing this for over 11yrs. Always love to help out a fellow reefer.:beerchug:

I would also like a mentor so if you could PM them for me too that'd be great :) I live in the same area as newbeecarter

Hey Bowser shoot me a pm, tell me a little about yourself, and where you're at in the hobby, I live in Osseo and could definitely offer some advice and/or help.

I just got my first 50 gallon tank a month ago. There's nothing in it yet. I am confused about several thing so I would really appreciate a mentor. I liv on the west end of lake Minnetonka.

Hi TCMAS community,

I’m new to forum and recently got into the hobby after becoming mesmerized by one of my good friends reef tank. He has provided me great amounts of insight and background on how to properly set up my future tank; I’ve been using this forum and other sources he provided to do as much research as possible before I seriously start investing in this hobby and I believe it would be a great opportunity to attend a meeting with him and actually become a full fledged member. I wanted to know do I need to register him or let one of the moderators know before I attend a meeting with him?

All you have to do is find the Thread for the next meeting you would like to attend. Post there that you would like to go, Address will probably be included in the thread.

Go and have fun. The next meeting I think is this weekend, the 11th, in brooklyn park. Next meeting after that is at Angie's (acharpenter) on the 20th(?) I think, a Monday. You should go. But be careful... Angie's wife is kinda scary! :gay1:

Nah, he only looks scary. His bark is worse than his bite and he doesn't really bark at all.

All kidding aside, welcome to the club and to the wonderful hobby of saltwater. Please keep us posted as to what you are building and include lots of pictures of the build process.

As far as attending a meeting, just send a PM to the host and they can fill you in on the details, or if you go to the one next saturday, its at a LFS so you can just show up. Either way, there will be an attendance list at all meetings and you just sign in and you will become a full member of the club.

Hey fletch, I could stop by sometime, just let me know.

For anyone else, I drive in from New Germany, which is by waconia, to Plymouth every day for work so if anyone needs help just pm me.

Thanks Reefer Sutherland and Fishmonger70 for the welcome and the input! I will look for the thread and as long as it doesn’t interfere with my work schedule I will make it out there. I look forward to being a part of this community and getting a chance to meet you guys; from what I’ve heard there’s a lot of good people on this forum. Once I’m officially up and running will be posting detailed updates with photos!

Check out the calendar for upcoming meetings. If the address is not listed - PM the host or anyone on the BOD for address/directions....

It really is that easy - any newbie's in the Blaine/Coon Rapids area that would like some help - shoot me a PM - always happy to help!
