I am on the fence about the hood, right now its lr9788's old hood. I am thinking on re-doing to match the stand.

Tank is doing great. I will have to update my thread again one of these days. Today is Sunday so I will do my weekly 20g water change and clean the glass.

Just for the record

I posted a week ago about having an unknown algae problem. It turned out to be purple algae turf. After some research the only thing i found that gets rid of it, are mexican turbo snails. And it was right. I added 6 to my 65gal tank.

These guys are like lawnmowers on nitro! Now I just need to figure out how to get rid of dumb bubble algae...

When I had bubble algae, I had pretty good luck with an emerald crab. Although I've also heard that it's fairly hit or miss with them. Worth a shot, though.

Any recent full tank shots? Us 65 gallon tank owners are few and far between, we need to stick together!

+1!

My unknown chalice is on a grow spurt and it is starting to wrap around its frag plug.

What is the best practice to help the grow? do I move it to a different surface, to the sand? I would really like it to spread flat.

Doesn't sand harms/burns corals?

Im not sure that is the only chalice I have had on the sand so far the rest are so small they just sit on the frag rack. I bet one of those rocks that have the hole to put a frag plug in would work well too if the sand is an issue.Check marine depot I think they say great for zoa growout but im sure they would be good for anything

If I don't move the chalice, it will warp and take the shape of the plug. is that right?

Blah! today I noticed like 8 little bubble algae pearls on the sand :mad_3: The two emerald crabs I have might not be doing the job, I might add two more. I am starting to think on maybe using algae fix, not sure if that would help

Don't use chemicals if you don't have to. Excess nutrients is the problem, and AlgaeFix isn't the solution.

That's a freshwater algaecide. That's not a good idea. Best way to remove it is naturally with fish or crabs, like you're doing.
