I see this starfish being just another contributor to shrinking reef systems. Human activity (namely pollution and our additions to global warming) is still at the top of the list of environmental destruction.
According to this article, the starfish is far more destructive than the other factors, besides, it's pretty much common knowledge now that man made global warming is a hoax.
only one kind of starfish is to blame, the crown of thorns, i didnt need to read the article to know that. Global warming, which is very much real (if u have netflix i recommend the ted talks on climate change) and human generated pollution are def on top of the list, the crown of thorns starfish is a big threat but we are still humans and can just pick them up and manually remove them, that article was for basically just saying where there 1.4 million dollars in funding is going.
global warming a hoax? com on its happened more times then most people know, there is a really good special on dirt samples from antartica, explains how the world goes through a freezing stage every so many thousand years, most likely because the gases of our atmosphere build up until it starts a cycle. the problem is that its happening to fast this time because we (humans) wont start believing in what we can see with our own eyes.
the main issue with global warming is the fact nobody wants to fix it, fuel emissions are responsible for 50%(estimated) if not more of this problem and corporate oil conglomerates love it when people say its a "hoax", more money in there pocket.
sorry my sister always says its a hoax and we go round and round, kind of a pet peeve still is just my opinion either way
Sorry, but I refuse to debate man made Global warming here, it's a hoax. Period. Science does not support it. You want to respond to this? Then make a thread in the sump, otherwise let's stay on topic ok?
The article, if you would actually read it, claims that the starfish, not global warming is the SINGE biggest factor in the destruction of the Great Barrier Reef.
"AMPTO's Executive Officer Col McKenzie said: "There is no doubt the Crown-of-thorns is the single biggest threat to the Great Barrier Reef — not climate change, not global warming, not mining and all those other pressures."
