I felt in love with these creatures when snorkeling in Hawaii with my wife. I know it's a big risk in a polyps reef, but I have seen successes before. So wish me luck.

I love these guys! Have never seen one in a home tank set up before so that would be pretty cool! GOOD LUCK, but I will want to see him once he is acclimated and happy!

I had one it died when I left the tank with my step mom's care for a week.
My suggestions watch for ich(these things can be worse than powder blues)
Try and get one that's eating (I think they eat sponges naturally):book2:
Basic things

once established they are actually not that hard to keep in my opinion, but that's my opinion and only one specimen. The fish you get may not be so happy to eat anything.
Hope this helps good luck

Yeah,
I'm a bit nervous about it. But so was I with the evansi anthias, and now I got four that eats pellets.

Sponge based diets, and there is even a spongivore food soak now (Brightwell Aquatics makes it). Spectrum Pellets as well ;) Good luck - it's something even I am hesitant to try.

Morish Idol

We had a Morish Idol for a few years, It was the star of the tank. I think if i saw one in a fish store i would have to buy it. Good luck.

I'm interested to see how this goes. There seem to be both optimistic and extremely pessimistic opinions on attempting to keep Moorish Idols. This would be a dream fish for me, but I've convinced myself to stay away for now.

Oh, and if you haven't already, I found this to be very informative: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=607477

I wonder if Liveaquaria DD ever has idols. That would probably be the best place to get a healthy specimen from.

Last time I saw, swe has like 4-5. I would of bought one if I had a bigger tank at that time.

Was it a fish only tank or did you have LPS as well?
I had some mushrooms in the tank but that's about it at the time . My morish idol got tangled up with my carpet nem and lived, But then ended up with ich from being week from the nem attack, Which ended its live.

I've personally never seen this fish in person but hope you have some pics to follow! Good luck keep us posted!
