I have no problem paying the fee to be a member, but I think If i were to pay that it should be a lifetime membership, and not only a year or 2.

If you feel $30 a year is too much and want to get lifetime membership, Host a meeting or run for an office. If you don't have access to the membership forum to signup for a meeting, just get in contact with a board member to help you find a available date for your meeting.

I would host a meeting but my tank is nothing special to look at, I mean I like it but it is very basic compared to most of the other tanks on here, and my house is a war zone because it is completely being remodeled.

Point is you have options. Which works best for you and your circumstance, that's up to you.

People complaining about membership fees did you not read the part where you do not have to pay.....All you have to do is go to two meetings a year. So if you don't wont to pay then go to a meeting.

It may be a good idea to have a thread just for posting workshop ideas.

Then people can see the ideas and if they are interested they can volunteer to host/teach at that event.

I never said I was complaining i said I have no problem paying for a membership but I think that it should be lifetime since if someone hosts a meeting they get lifetime for free and us people who are unable to host a meeting but are willing to pay should get lifetime that's all.

It seems odd to me as well that you don't get to vote if you pay to become a member, also, I love that Maxreefer said you can change that y voting, sorry, but if you are a paying member, you can't vote to change it. Also, haven't we already gone over the classified issue? The way it is right now is a prefect compromise between both sides of the isle. I for one am disgusted that the bod has decided to go back the the antiquated "members only" classified. I was against this approach before I was a member, and I am against it now. I want to be able to sell to members and non members, I also want to be able to buy from non members, that goes for FIF as well. In changing this back to members only, you are cutting down on the amount of people viewing my for sale, FIF, and WTB threads, thus lessening the chance that I will be able to sell, give away, or find livestock and dry goods. I do like the 50 post limit, however, a lot of forums do this and it cuts down on the amount of people joining up just to sell something. As for the giveaways, where are we getting the money for this? There was a thread just recently about how we almost weren't able to pay for the fall frag swap. As a whole, I don't think most of these ideas were well thought out.

Perhaps they will come up with a lifetime $ amount but that's not one of the choices outlines here. Saying $30 should get you lifetime certainly sounds like a complaint to me.

us people who are unable to host a meeting but are willing to pay should get lifetime that's all.

You are not a "US" people. You can host a meeting you just don't want to. There is no requirement to have a tank. If you don't have an clubhouse at your apartments or a backyard, have it at a park or something. When there is a will there is a way, I don't really care for excuses.

if someone hosts a meeting they get lifetime for free

The other thing that urks me a little is. Who said hosting was free. Hosting takes effort and time. Most would agree that time is not free.

It's a choice, you can justify however you see fit but there really isn't any excuses.

Yes people hosts a meeting get life time membership but its not free. There is a lot that go in to hosting a meeting. You open your home up to may people you do not know, Put out your family while you have all thees people over and you have to clean up the after. Ask anybody that has had a meeting. They will tall you they have more then payed for what little they get out of it. It seems to me only the new people to this club have a problem with not getting full membership if you pay. All I can say to you people is you get out of this club what you put into it. And maybe you should spend more time seeing how this club is be for you put in your two cents.

I LOVE the fact there are options now. Meetings are generally tough for me and I would have paid for the membership early on... or maybe not?! The great thing is, the option is there!! Wonderful!

Round of applause from me, BOD.

Is the $30 fee going back into the club? Into the monthly giveaways?

i totally agree with this... limiting people on the forum just because they are not a member is foolish. i understand that the bods wants people to attend meetings and be involved with the club other than keyboard tapping but at what cost. ive met a lot of good people from the classifieds/frag swaps and havent been able to attend a meeting yet. i work 50+ hrs a week and have a 10 month old so my time is limited and most meetings seem to be a 30min drive one way from me. im really not sure what problem we are trying to solve here...if someone joins the forum and only chooses to use the classifieds to buy and sell stuff why is that wrong. why cant everyone who joins the boards be a member and not have any segregation of forum areas? isnt the whole point of the boards to share info/resources with all. i do love the supporter opportunity but then you have to forfeit your voting rights! jeez i throw some bones at the club and i cant even vote about pertinent issues like changing the whole dynamic of the club by closing off the classifieds to a lot of unfortunate folks. there is a ton of great people involved with this forum member or not, matter of fact i havent met one bad egg yet. enough negativity...i do think the giveaways will be sweet. there is a lot of oppurtunity for creativity and interesting themes but ill probably have to be a member and have 50+ posts so i better get to a meeting or fork up the dough

+1 to Zwalk and Ironman; I have to agree that it is somewhat unfair to not even let non-members/supporters even look at the classifieds. I'm fine paying the $30, but like Ironman said, the market will now be very limited here. Even if someone joins the forum to get good deals and sell, are they really not benefiting the community? I understand people want the club to feel more like a club and not just a place to sell, and I'm all for that, but at the same time, people who want to buy and sell don't really have any other options to do so in MN.

You guys are upset over nothing. Lots of clubs have a small nominal fee to get to the classifieds and the world didn't end. Don't want to pay? Show up.
