bubbles everywhere? (1 Viewer)

i am staring to notice that bubbles are forming everywhere. it started off on the back of the tank with the algea. and now they are clear bubbles all over the tank. what is it? is this harmfull?

Like micro bubbles? That can happen if there's too much flow in your sump. It's usually a result of no baffles to slow down the flow of water.

I have that happen when i have a bacteria outbreak. It is something creating a gass... like cyano creates oxygen

so still the question that scares me remains... is this bad? im not sure whats going on. my nem has moved twice in less than 2 weeks. but everything else seems fine. i have not changed anything. just did a test when i asked about my algea problem. perams look good....

Hey Salmonizer, can you post a pic? If not, check the Google machine for Cyanobacteria and see if you have a match.

Looks like bubble algae to me though. How much flow do you have? Have you changed any of that recently? Pumps need cleaning to get back up to original output?

I've experience the same thing, not sure if it cyano or dino's don't think its bubble algae though.

i have a maxijet 1200 with just the one splitter. i am sure i have plenty of flow. how do i get rid of this stuff?

I agree, according to this Lil' FAQ it sure looks like Dinoflagellates to me. The purple in the first picture looks like there is a little Cyano action going on as well. :book2:

The first picture looks like cyano to me.

Looks like cyano in the first pic the third just looks like algae, syphon what you can, scrub the rest then clean the sand bed.

Some of those pics are defs cyano. Kind of them to make oxygen for you, too bad it's ugly xD

its like it just exploded. they are on the back of my snails now too. what can i use to scrub them off? do you recommend a water change after? i cant really find the procedure for this, just what it actually is.

Use a turkey baster to blast it off, and while your at it blast all the rocks and pockets to kick up any detritus then do a water change. but keep blasting that crap till it doesn't come back and do frequent water changes.

i dont think a maxijet 1200 is enough flow for a biocube 29...not that it will solve your problem right now but my 2 pennies. purple/reddish stuff looks like cyano. also seems like you got a lot of algae growth in general maybe time for a good skimmer or a half dollar sized tang

what kind of tang? was told that i cannot have that. eventually i will be getting a bigger tank but still. i dont want to get yelled at for housing such a specimen if its not safe to do so.
