Marty's 450g (1 Viewer)

I think is the bulkheads, they drilled the wrong holes size.

Wrong size and wrong place. They glues the overflow box too close to the holes. Ended up cracking the glass on the overflow trapezoid panel as the bulkheads were sitting in silicon and one was putting pressure on the glass. I knew it was wrong the second I saw it but thought they knew what they were doing and just cut the tolerances close.

Wrong assessment on my part.

Supposedly they are going to fly a guy down next week. Tank is 1/2 full of water, has sand in it, with 100# aquascapes cemented in (literally) with $1000's of dollars worth of fish living in temporary homes. Joy.

Wow awesome build! Sorry to hear about the tank, I am sure they will make it right.

Are you working on figuring out how to hook up your 180 temporarily somewhere or are you going to let those fish ride it out where they are?

Good luck, man.

Holler if you could use some help. However, I assume you have enough help locally to move that 180 wherever you need to.

wow, that's shouldn't happen with their price tag. man, they seem off their game lately. hope they will make it right.

Agreed. I just purchased a 300 gallon AGE tank. I priced out Miracles, but have read a lot of bad things about their workmanship lately. They do have great customer service I understand so hopefully it will all work out.

Call this v 1.0
Note to self: never put anything in the tank until plumbed... I rolled the dice and tried to get a jump on things. dice roll didn't work out well. Drained and took the rock out, sand tomorrow.

Thanks James. Yes, plan right now is to setup the 180g in the system downstairs. Thinking is I might need to dig in for the long term should things continue at this pace.

Sorry for your troubles. I can imagine just how frustrating it must be.

Bumped out and frustrated is an understatement. All works out in the end I guess, struggle is the timetables I wanted to be on. Have a kid due 11/20 and trying to get this done after that date will be that much more challenging. Additionally, it's different on a new build as you don't have live stock to worry about.

Per Miracles they are building the box today, glue it and let it sit over the weekend. Ship Monday for Wednesday delivery, fly a guy out for Thursday or Friday install.

Current state, I knew better but tried it anyways. Funny what timetables does to rational thinking... :)

that's poor quality control. how can anyone build aquarium for business not noticing the wall too close to the holes for any bulkheads? just one looks will save them time and money, maybe a return customer of future.

I guess I'm confused at the orientation of the picture. Are the holes not part of the bottom of the tank. How will a new overflow box fix crack on the bottom ?

I too have been following your build (which is very cool) and very surprised about this trouble. I thought that Miracles was one of the best out there, I've certainly changed my opinion. As Li mentioned, this seems like an amateur mistake. At least they are spending the money and taking the time to make it right but I'd be just as angry as you are.

Also understand your timetable regarding the new kid (congratulations!). Certainly makes for a more challenging build!

I'm following along, keep up the good work!

It's a top-down photo and the issue is that the overflow box does not come out far enough from the back wall. There is not enough space between the hole edges and the overflow wall to fit the flange of a bulkhead.

at least that's my understanding. regardless, it sucks.

So what piece of glass is cracked? as David said it looks like the bottom sheet which IMHO is terminal.

This

Flat wall on the trapezoid (overflow box) cracked from pressure of bulkhead

The overflow box is glass skinned with acrylic. They are making everything an inch wider/deeper
