Another evening trimming corals. In the lasg 3 weeks ive had to cut out a nepthia the size of my hand, green cady cane atleast 4 heads and today 5 6inch peices of gorg. They were all stinging or fighting with there neighbors. I thing the garbage man would freek out if he could see whats in my garbage. Lol. Going out tomorrow to hit up the petcos for some sweet deals. Looking to get a dragon face pipefish. And maybe a chalice. Sril have a 1inch by 1inch are to fill. Lol

Ok I need some help if anyone is following this.

I have been doing 2 part now for a few weeks. I started dosing alk first thing in morning before lights come on and then about half hour later calc. Now im dosing 11ml of alk and 20 ml of calc. I test on sunday morning. All seems fine at first. Meaning alk as been around 9 and calc 440. Now last week I changed to dose alk in the evening after lights out and calc still in am. I just dump it in alc slowly but calc dump. No doser.
The problem. Maybe.
I tested today . Sat afternoon. And calc is 450, and alk is 6.5. Not sure what to do. should I do nothing. I will be dosing my 11ml tomight. But curious if i shoukd be doing more. I dont see any signs of stress in tank. And I believe I have been low on alc for long time hense the start of 2 part. Mag is 1400. Any suggestion.

People normally dose ALK in the morning because PH tends to be lowest then.

As I stated before, I found it odd that you had to dose less ALK. It could have been a test kit deviation that gave you a reading that made you measure too small of a dose. I would measure again. I would expect the two doses to be about the same. Dose ALK in the am, cal in the pm.

Just keep at it, sometimes we get the dose wrong or it changes depending on events in the tank or other parameters. (Ex phosphates)

Thanks, gonna go back to alk in am. Calc in pm. For a week and test again. I did check peram twice today to make sure cause I thought it was weird alk was so low and calc so high. See what next week brings.

Nothin new to report. Tanks doing well, picked up what I think is a pink flower pot from pet land. Harlaquin is doing awesome. Molted one already. See it picking up a starfish daily. Cruses all over, plans moving forward, remove the 2 clows so I can add some new wrasses. My clows are bullys, but not totally confident on thus idea. And some alot of spring trimming. Between chemical war fare and corals growing out of the tank, rime to trim. All my other frags have been going I to m sons 4 gallon and now its full lol. He wants an upgrade. Lol, mom says nooooo. Lol, dosing is going well, I have not forgot any days yet thay I know of, hehehe. Some of the frags I picked up a few weeks ago are already growing nicely. The fuge seems to be doing alright. I cant see into it very well, but the cheto is still alive. So I think thats good. I see a few criters moving around but not alot of pods. Guess that realy all for now. Ill tey and get some more recent pics up this week end.

Looking good.

Saw your post about the 180 the other day, got excited. Then I clicked in....bubble burst. Was really looking forward to that upgrade for about 3 seconds there. Just imagine the cabinet you could build...

Well I have managed to find a few more pieces to add to my tank. Green disk coral. A welso. And a large rock of gsp. Had to cut that one up. Was to big for my sons tank(thanks Pete). But I'm still missing one color. Yellow. I'm going to be on a mission this summer to find a yellow Sps. Or something.
Tanks is doing amazing. I'm dosing 25ml a day of both alk and calc. I have been blown away by that. Never though it would of taken that much.
I lost a few frags over that last 2 month due to rtn. Way bummed, my favorite was a frag of red dragon. Will prob try and get another one later. Make sure theres no more rtning going on for a while.
Got a lot of fighting goin on these days. Corals are competing for space. I let most of them fight but my big chalice is trying to take the tank over. Lol.

Nice. I recently started a 33L. I have a few questions. How high are the light from the water surface? How many powerheads and their gph rate? I tried PM, but your box is full. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I believe, I need to raise my lights. They are about 4 inches above the rim. I know this will be a challenge, never had a tank this shallow. But, I'm loving the look. I will be following you. Good luck.

I have my lignts just high enough for me to acess my tank. Only problems ive had is its to much light for low light corals and I dont have any good cliffs for them to hide. The low light corals are tbe only one I can remember loosing. These 33 are great I think. I love it over my old 90 hands down. Not sure if you have done it yet but post some pics of your tank would love to se another 33er.
