acharpenter's "Latest" 40 breeder build (1 Viewer)

Well they dropped it to $50.00 after my complaining. Still not too pleased but at least it's something.

That's a bunch of crap. Where is the QA on their behalf to release an obviously subpar update. I'd raise holy he double hockey sticks.

I'm still a bit shocked to see water in a tank that you own. :)

Yeah - I am not happy about it but for $50.00 I just finally went with it. I should note - their customer service and communication was top notch and up until now I have never had any issues with any of their products. This still is wrong - I should not be charged anything but after the above noted history with them - I went with the $50.00- I have plenty more larger battles to fight than this one - know what I mean?

and yeah - imma bit shocked by the water too - and also - now that there is water and fish and corals and sand and, and and......I really didn't realize how much I missed having a tank up and running until I finally got this one up and rolling again

You didn't want to share about your mishaps from the night of turning the light the other way? Glad you're still alive to post! lol

What about your foot? ;)

That sucks. Did it stop on its own or did you have to do something?

Had to have it amputated.....the foot, not the hand I mean

Still have no idea how the foot happened - good times - thanks for hanging big foot!

So I dont need much flow for my softies but have now found that I need more flow for the tank as a whole. I am battling cyano in the low flow area's in the sand.

My thought is to replace my return pump with something more powerful.

Currently have an OR2500 - thinking upgrade that should hopefully generate more flow (enough flow) in the tank to combat the cyano???

When I had the 45gal Cube tank, I battled cyano a few times.
I kept on adding more powerheads with short term results.
It wasn't until I removed the five Korallia pumps and purchased a couple of VorTech MP10's that caused the cyano disappear for good.
The broader laminar flow (undertow) from a prop pump did much better than the directional flow (blast) from a powerhead or return.

Back to your question... having more flow from any source will help.
Just make sure that you're getting the detritus to be brought into suspension for the overflow to remove it from the display.
Cyano sucks.

This helps huge - thanks dude

Sad part is I wanted to keep this nem safe but looks like I cannot do so with the flow I have - thats why I would rather up my return pump for increased flow - than add powerheads.....know what I mean?

I personally wouldn't start buying bigger pumps etc. just yet. Likely a nutrient issue the real cause. I'd just use the ultralife red slime remover first before making equipment changes. I'm not usually a medication type guy but this stuff really works well.

You know me - I don't care for any chemical use in my tanks but i'll give this a shot : (

Thanks guys

Caught some really cool pics of my nem last night during a water change - nem also managed to kick my arse during said water change

Great pics Angie!
And great minds do think alike!

Here's a pic I took of that RBTA when I was doing a water change in September.

You can see the damage it was doing to my birds nest colony; hence the reason I had to give it up.
