TUNZE CARE MAGNET LONG 0220.015 AQUARIUM ALGAE CLEANER - 3/8" TO 1/2" THICKNESS
Glass thickness from 10mm (3/8") to max. 15mm (1/2"). Width 86mm (3.4 in.), length 140mm (5.5 in.).
Including a stainless steel blade and two spare plastic blades.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The "Care Magnet" is a breath of fresh air in the field of aquarium pane cleaner design, consisting of an ergonomic handle and special plastic blades made of wear-resistant high performance plastic. The patented slim Care Magnet is significantly more compact than conventional algae magnets with a large cleaning surface, it is unobtrusive and therefore able to remain within the aquarium without disrupting the overall scenery.

This glass pane cleaner doesn't cause any scratches on internal aquarium glass panes, and can therefor even be used on acrylic glass panes with the small plastic blade.

The inner magnet is more than 3mm away from the aquarium and thus prevents the jamming of the aquarium sand. The two plastic blades remove the algae considerably better from the glass panes than a flat cleaning surface - almost as good as a sharp metal blade. The life of a blade is from several months up to approx. one year. The low flow resistance during the cleaning with a simultaneous high magnetic coupling, makes a separation of the magnet nearly impossible.

The large blade should only be modified with the included stainless steel blade for aquarium glass panes with particularly tough algae, e.g. older deposits on the side walls or thick calcareous algae.

Russ from American Reef did a review on these about a month ago. I sold me on the magnet but i haven't purchased on yet. Looks like the perfect implementation of a magnetic cleaner/scraper combo.

Check it out at http://youtu.be/m-uWXxyf3Yw.

We just got our new Tunze Care Magnet and used it this weekend. Seems to work well and our experience matches the video. We have not used it enough to see what the drawbacks are but it seems so much better than the block magnets.

They are awesome. I have all 3 models available now. Most popular one is the middle size (long) I have had a hard time keeping them in stock customers love them so much.

I like the middle one too... the only drawback it has compared to my flipper is that you cannot make it go from one glass pane to another in the tank... you pull the magnet and it sinks to the bottom of the tank and you have to go in the tank to retrieve it.

I just bought the extra strong from Fragatastic reef, I have to stop reading these threads they always cost me money.......

lol

That is so true! Thanks again for the order, you should have it tomorrow!

I just got the strong and used it on 1/2" glass it works great but I would not want anything with less power on 1/2" glass though.

Good to hear! How do you like it so far? Don't feel bad to post a review on my website for it also to help others. :)

I just got mine. I have 1/2 inch glass and got the "long". Put on the stainless blade and let me say, this thing DESTROYS coraline. I will be scraping the back this evening. I was amazed how well this did compared to a wand with a blade scraper.

From this

To this, in about 30 min. The water was still a little hazy from all the commotion.
