LOL took 2-3 days on my 120 iirc. I actually had a post asking about skimmer overflowing, took a week or two before i remembered using that stuff the day before it went nuts.

Patience...
It will take a little time for the cyano to crash. You do know the phrase about watching a pot until it boils, don't you?

I think I performed a large water change afterwards to help get my skimmer back in line.

And like I stated earlier, once I added the Vortech pump for better water flow along the sand bed, I haven't seen any cyano again.

Thanks - directions noted 24-48 hours.

I actually expected the skimmer to chill a bit after 24 hours.

I cant help it - when it comes to my aquarium - I tweak

Do I really need to do a water change? Instructions don't note the need or recommendation to do so....is that the only thing that will make the skimmer stop spewing other than waiting a few more days?

Not until I have at least 5 in the tank!!!

So that is the positive/negative here. Between adding the MJ600 sureflow on Saturday, the Aiptasia-X treatment and Slime remover on Tuesday - the nem got p/o ad split 2 days later.

So yay a 3rd nem but boooo I ticked it off so much it split.

Went through my fish equipment stash and woooo hooo - found I had an MJ1200 with sureflow kit ON A MAGNET!!!

So replaced the MJ600 with the 1200 tonight - so a little more flow and a bit more peace of mind now that its on a magnet.

Also just did a 25% water change with suctioning out detritus in the sump

What ended up working? Was it the remover you got?

The UltraLife Slime remover cleared the Cyano/Red Slime noticeably after 24 hours and was completely gone after 72 hours.

As far as the brown carp on the sand (possible dino's) - I believe adding the MJ for extra flow was really what cleared that. Though I do believe adding the Nessarius snails, Urchin and Midas to help eat up food added to the solution.

I also suctioned out the debris in the sump and am now cleaning my skimmer collection cup every other day rather than every 3-4 days.

Did lots of things all in the same time frame so hard to tell what was THE fix - pretty sure all together did it but I would base the cycano clear mainly on the slime remover and the brown off the sand mainly due to the increased flow from the MJ

I have a maxspect razor over my 40 breeder on the bracket it came with. After switching out the reflectors to 120 degree ( about 25.00 extra), I get really good coverage and like the slim profile. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks - I decided to wait until after the Expo to see what I could find there before moving forward on another AI unit.

I am at the point - I think the AI is more than I need so likely will be selling the one I have and finding an AIO unit that gives the spread over the 40 for the softies

The only caveat is I need the unit I pick up to have a ramp up/ramp down option - does the Maxspect have that?

The maxspect has a programmable interface built into the unit that can ramp up/down on two channels (one channel covering the actinic spectrum and the other the more white spectrum). My initial complaint with the unit was the "disco effect" from the fixture because of the shallow nature of the 40 breeder, and some shadowing at the ends of the tank. Switching out the 90 degree reflectors to 120 made a world of difference. I am really new to the hobby, but my my Zoas colonies and LPS seem to like it ano the 120V unit I purchased is only running at 55% max at peak hours. Since this is the only lighting system I have used, please take my comments with at least 3 grains of salt. :)

The 1200 was too much flow (I liked having it in there though as it had the magnets) - I dropped it back to the 600 with sureflow mod beginning of last week but it still seems a little too much flow. Also - its on suction cups which I hate and BTW it dropped and caused a sand storm 2 nights ago. I have the cord held outside the tank and also have it sitting on some LR or the damage would have been worse.

One of my nems has started moving in the last 4 days so I will be pulling the sureflow mod off and throwing a sponge on the intake on the MJ 600 in the meantime but.....

So - I am at the point that I either
A. Update the return pump from an OR 2500 to an OR 6500
B. Buy an Vortech MP10

Thoughts?

I would do the MP10 personally. You can easily use the foam covers to protect the nems, and adjust the flow easily. But I also prefer lower flow rates through the sump if possible to allow for the equipment and filters to do there job.

Keep in mind that the nems will move as you play with the flow so that they feel comfortable.

Vortech.
Definitely.

Not only can you control the amount of flow, but also play with the different modes.
And the undertow that is created by the broad waves from the MP10 pump will help keep detritus suspended and your sand bed clean; preventing cyano!

And...

This had me rolling - can totally hear him saying it. Just watched that a couple weeks ago for the first time in like 10 years lol

Had another sand storm 2 days ago!!!!

But I also found an MP10esW and it arrived today and installed.

Clowns dont care much for the motor sound but they will get used to it. Meanwhile the one nem that was on the move - started booking it behind some LR within 30 minutes of throwing the MP10 in there.

I am ordering some foam covers for the MP10 for pick up at the Expo through Aquaria Guru - in the meantime - hoping the nems hold to the middle and right side of the tank : )

Im pretty happy with this - thanks for your suggestions

Somehow I read that as you were giving Me the middle finger, I think I'm suffering from this abusive relationship we have.
