ChukeeR's 266G Reef Savvy + Synergy Reef Build / Upgrade (1 Viewer)

Tank arrived this morning! The delivery guy was awesome and carted them right into my garage with me even asking him to do it, but I left him a tip anyway for doing that.

Now to get it all into the house and the fun can then begin!

If we can get like 6 people or so that'd be sweet! I figured its super last minute notice though and next weekend doesn't work at this point so I was thinking it would probably be sitting for a couple weeks yet.

Way super last minute - since it's in the garage safe - I suggest you pick a date - post it here and that should give anough time for peeps to plan to show to help.

I can show tomorrow - but alas - i am just a "gal" lol

I managed to slide the stand into place this morning! This photo size limit is killing me! :(

Soooooo...I may have got some unplanned last minute help and the tank might be in the house now! :D

Drain plumbing from the tank to the sump is done...need to do a little more plumbing on the returns, glue / epoxy the loose rocks down, pick up some heaters and filter socks, still have a little more work to do on plumbing the sump down to a 125 or 150G tank so that if the power goes out I wont have a flooded basement...and then I should be ready for water!

Waiting a couple weeks to pick up some of the remaining items I need as Black Friday / Cyber Monday will hopefully have some good deals.

Sorry for the horrible glare...

Very nice, indeed!!!

I've learned to wait for the big holiday sales when I'm making bigger purchases. The savings and extra rewards points definitely are worth waiting for!
The hard part is sitting there looking at your tank and waiting!

It's so hard to wait though! I have a bunch of goodies just sitting in my BRS cart......waiting.....waiting for me to click buy

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Couple updates...BRS Santa came yesterday. I was excited that they started their Black Friday Sale last week. Picked up my 125G 'water reservoir tank' as well. This should be plenty large to hold extra water that would drain down from the tank / sump during a power outage. Now I don't need to rely on anti-siphon holes, check valves, etc. Still debating on installing a baffle or not so that I can use a section of it for growing macro.

Started cycling my QT tank. Using my Nuvo that I tore down for the QT and have the overflow filled with rubble rock. I figure once the main display is cycled, current fish get transferred over, we'll probably start picking up some new fish / coral to add.

At this point I'm just waiting for a hole saw that I ordered from amazon to show up (couldn't find a 2 7/8" bit anywhere which is what BRS recommended for the hole size. Not sure if a 3" hole would have been fine, but didn't want to risk drilling to large of a hole into my sump.) Once that shows up I can plumb the 2" drain from my sump down to the 125.

Also waiting to see if Ecotech's Radion hanging kit, RMS rail, and slide mounts go on sale on Friday. I want to at least get the hanging kit hung up before I fill the tank with water. Much easier to stand inside the tank to hang the lights versus getting a ladder and having to reach. Figured that since I have 2 Radions over my 90G might as well use them over the new tank. I'd been on the fence for a long time between keeping them or switching them out for a T5/LED Hybrid option.

Almost time to fill this thing!! I'm just praying that I don't have any leaks in my plumbing.

So as you you know, had a little financial scare, but that's all been sorted out so here's an update. :D

The tank took about 3 days to fill...Can't wait to see my water bill after letting the 150 GPD RODI run constant for those 3 days and then some (in addition to the amount it runs normally)...

Filling Day 1

Filling Day 2

and now it's ALIVE!!

Once it was filled I noticed one of the bulkheads started to leak...a very small leak, maybe 2-3 drops of water per day, but a leak none the less. Long story short, I spent about a week and a half battling bulkhead leaks. Even ended up putting some hairline cracks in a couple of bulkheads (and I was only tightening by hand)...Guess I'm stronger than I thought??? Anyway that has since been resolved.

Here is a current picture of my fish room. Made the paneling this weekend for which I'm going to mount my Apex controller onto...Had to measure like 10 times to make sure I was cutting the holes in the right spots for the outlets. Just need to get a hole saw at some point so that I can try to hide some of the wires behind the panel as best I can.

Plumbing layout and your electronic panel is very clean and organized. Love it.

Thanks! Hopefully it'll clean up a little more after I get the Apex EBs moved over and get some small holes drilled so I can feed the wires behind the panel (as much as possible)...Luckily the messy part of the plumbing is pretty much hidden in between the trusses :)

I'm not handy by any means but I'm just trying to take my time to do everything so that it's all neat and organized in the end. Otherwise I'll never be happy and it becomes a much bigger project to redo everything once it's already running.
