"That's all Folks!"

The actual tear down won't start until next week; I'm headed out of town this weekend for one last hockey tournament. Who-da-thunk?

this post is properly quoted to show what my displeasure is about :)

Yeah, I know.
Sometimes, it's just time to suck it up and move onto the next adventure. Which is coming!

I've made some progress with the new set up, but I've also hit a snag.
The tank builders are saying that they will not drill the holes for the Modular Marine overflow system. They've drilled tanks for them in the past, but they say they have had issues with the exterior overflow box interfering with the top trim of the tank; so they're not drilling for them anymore. But I find this to be irrelevant as I am ordering a rimless tank. I have a source looking onto the matter and I'm hoping to hear good news. :D But I am also looking into alternative builders that will build the tank to meet my requirements.

Are you going to start a new build thread? Or did you already?

I think I’ll start a new thread based on all of the new changes to the system, but I haven’t started one yet.

It's sad to see that once a flourishing garden is now desert ..

But exciting times ahead and am sure you would do the next build better than anyone .
Let me know once you are ready to be loaded on sps ...

Regards,
Abhishek

It's over now. The fatboy has left the building.
The tank, sump and miscellaneous components of the 120gal system have been sold and picked up.
The stand and canopy are all that remain of the original 120gal system.

This build thread has been enjoyable for me.
It's nice to go back and see where the system started and to see all of the events and changes that made the system what is was. Even with all of the the posts and photos that I posted of this system, there was plenty more that didn't get posted. There were good times and there were bad times, but I enjoyed every one of them. Who knows just how many square "feet" of Montipora hodgsoni was grown in that reef tank? I was able to witness my Percula Clownfish pair spawn, lay eggs and watch the larvae hatch. I was able to watch my Lyretail Anthias females transition to males and eventually spawn at night. I was able to watch a pair of Randall's Gobies pair up and spawn in their burrow. I was able to have a pair of Midas Blennies! It may have been a rough going during the last half of last year, but now I have a clean slate to start my next build thread.

Thanks for following along.
Thanks for all of your posts that added to this thread.

Stay tuned for "jlanger's 120gal Arts & Crafts Inspired Reef Build: Episode II"

Same dimensions to utilize the existing stand and canopy? Are there things you are already dead set on you will do differently this time around? Is there something new that you haven't done yet but would like to do this time?

WHAT?!?!? Isn't it customary to have the second episode be called Episode V?

I suppose I could go back and make prequel build threads of my tanks from the 90's, but I cannot remember exactly how many I actually had.

Yeah. Going with the same size tank allows me to use the stand and canopy, although I really would've like to have gone bigger; 300gal+ bigger.

There's some changes, but not much different than before.
The tank itself will be rimless with 3 sides of low-iron glass (by Planet Aquariums) with a Modular Marine overflow system; so that changed somewhat.
I will be using many of the same brands as before, just newer and bigger products. Lighting will be a pair of Radion G4 Pros with supplemental T5 Blue+ bulbs. The protein skimmer will be a bigger Reef Octopus; Regal 200SSS with DC pump. My newly designed ATS with two LED fixtures. I upgraded to a 2016 Apex controller with an extra energy bar. The biggest change will be switching from 2-part dosing to a calcium reactor.

As far as what's in the tank, the rock will be all new pieces. I cherry-picked two very large Tonga shelf pieces that will be the foundation for the reef.
Most of my corals are spread throughout a few members' tanks, so I'll be able to get most of them back when I'm ready for corals. I sold off most of the fish.
All I have left are my pair of Percula Clownfish. Just this weekend, I traded my Flameback Angelfish for my Leopard Wrasse which I rehomed over to Will's 120gal system. The plan was to bring the wrasse back to my system when it was ready, but shortly after releasing the male wrasse into Will's display, his female leopard wrasse found him appealing and there seems to be some bonding happening there. After some tough conversation (and it was tough!!!), I realized that I couldn't separate the pair of wrasses, so Will now has a pair of Blue Star Leopard Wrasses in his tank.
My plan is to keep the fish population to a minimum; I said "my plan is..." There will be a pair of gobies with a pistol shrimp. After that, we'll see.

Great to have a plan, it sounds good. Wouldn't we all like to have a 300+ gallon bigger setup lol. Very cool to hear about the wrasses cohabitating and being so "friendly". And on a side note maybe somehow some way you will get a baby leopard wrasse from those two some day. Those goby and shrimp pairs have such a cool symbiotic relationship.

You can visit the wrasses any time, Jason! Also, I am very excited for you. The planning and building phase is particularly interesting when you have previous experience. Literally almost every day I think about things I might do differently on my next build.
