No clue. Possibly a fish in the old tank that is no longer there? Never saw any nipping though.
 
Wow, that's a tough slog. I'm really thankful you shared though, it does give me hope that even with all the crap going on in my tank, there could be better days ahead :). You have some beautiful LPS in there, I'm jealous. Looking forward to see it back to it's full mixed reef glory, I'm sure with your skills it won't be too many years :).
 
Enough to make many-a-reefer throw in the towel. Your resilience is admirable.

You are def on the right track with beating the AEFW. Had to do the same thing years ago, throw away many loved colonies. :(

You got through a very rough patch and it’s amazing to see you’re still going with it all. The torches are filling in nicely it looks like :)

Of all the wrasses to survive through an ammonia spike I never would have put money on the chaoti being the one to pull through! She’s a tough little one it seems

lol that's what @OldNemo said as well 😂 she is doing great though and plump as can be!

And yeah I thought about throwing in the towel, but know I'd regret it down the road.
 
Things are going pretty well, all things considered. Added a few new fish that successfully made it through qt and have a couple more in at currently to keep me excited as my tank remains stickless 😅 speaking of, I’m almost done with the 8 week aefw dip. Still haven’t seen any since the first dip and really hopeful that I’ve beat these pests.

I’ve been doing a bit of maintenance, and took advantage of the somewhat warm December weather (45 degrees) to pressure wash my saltwater mixing bin. Couldn’t get all of it off but better than nothing.

I also decided to take the UV offline for a few reasons:
1. I’ve been reading more on how running one 24/7 might not be so good as it kills both the good and bad.
2. I have no clue what the flow is going through it so there’s a good chance it wasn’t doing much to begin with.
3. The way I plumbed it in added a ton of unnecessary 90 degree turns in my return plumbing. Taking it off has drastically reduced this.
4. I can always add it in temporarily with it’s own pump (and flow meter I have lying around) if need be.

The one con to taking it offline however is that my water got yellow fast… so it was definitely keeping the water clear at the very least. I’ve been looking into ozone but it seems both too expensive and a bit sketchy.

What I REALLY need to do is figure out how to get these cords off the ground behind my sump. Any ideas??

Exactly what I was going to suggest!
If you don’t need a 3” I am pretty sure I have a bunch of extra 1” and 2” and you’re welcome to have some.

How to I get them elevated though? Drill something into the concrete wall that will hold it up?

EDIT: Forgot to add the pic, will edit post now with the pic so you can see what I'm working with.
 
Yep you could use some small drywall anchors but you’d have to hammer drill the block. Not an option with a tank there I suppose.

I bet some kind of gorilla glue would do the job nicely.
 
Could you build a wood frame to hold the cable channel/raceway?

I’d guess two pieces of 1x3 however high you want it elevated and then a cross piece of 1x3 with the channel attached would work well enough. You could spruce it up as much as you felt necessary.
 
Sounds good, thank you both for your input. I’ll see if I’m able to get a drill in between and play with these ideas a bit!
 
Raceways are light weight and flat on the back. Easy to screw to a piece of wood but you could skip that step and just use some construction adhesive to the back and glue it to the wall. Would be better than hammer drilling concrete but a lot of options at least. Could even try 3M strips but I am not sure how they will work on concrete. Maybe some really aggressive two sided tape?

This is another good idea and I agree the raceways themselves are light. But as you can see I have a lot of cords and I feel like all of them added into the raceway will be too heavy. Worth a try though!

I bought some two sided Gorilla mounting tape it’s super strong don’t know how long it will last but it’s strong
 
One thing I absolutely loath doing is refilling my di resin canisters. It’s always messy and I constantly thought there must be a better way to do this. Well thankfully the 3d printing reed aquarium industry was thinking the same! Picked this up from printed reef and couldn’t be happier. The only negative would be that the “pusher” needs to be .5-1mm bigger to push down perfectly. At the moment it allows some to bypass it.

Note: in the back you can see what I was using previously which was a funnel I dremeled the bottom of to make larger and a 250ml dosing cup to pack it in (which I’ll actually continue using as it is the perfect size). It worked but not well.

Ohh I like this idea a lot! Would protect from splashes but really only care that they’re elevated off of the ground and this would work perfect!
