I asked this in an IM owner’s group but didn’t get many valuable responses.

I cleaned up my MightyJet return pump yesterday, just with water and a toothbrush.

The impeller gave off this residue when it was wet. It doesn’t appear rusty anywhere but is a bit concerning. Anyone else had this happen? Or would you keep using it?

probably the coating around the impeller is starting to rub off. I haven't experienced it myself but it seems like a wear and tear item.

Cause for concern?

The pump has hardly been in use a year yet I think.

Some magnets are bare and reef safe. Not sure about this one specifically.

I mean it didn’t crash my tank and sps are doing fine so…I’m going to figure it’s fine I guess. Just a little disconcerting to discover.

Have you tried called Innovative Marine's customer service line? They should be able to tell you if that's normal or not/safe to use still.
