120 gallons of "No Honey, it doesn't cost that much..." (1 Viewer)

I picked up the tank used last spring.

Still trying to figure out where everything should go - I want to add a few more pieces of live rock, but just can't seem to find a place that I'd like to put them.

Did pick up a 2nd energy bar for the apex, trying to automate control on as much as I can. Also picked up a wireless adapter for the controller. One of these days I have to get around to figuring out how to install that. I'll get pics posted when i have time for that project - I'm sure there's a free weekend lying around here somewhere...

Finally managed to get the wireless adapter installed on the controller.
Need to do a little better job with cord management now that I'm about done with additions down here.

Wow looks amazing! I'm just finally finishing my 120 now that I moved. I hope it makes as good of progress as yours! Night and day difference from when I saw it last. Also I wouldn't thin it out just let it grow! =)

Looks awesome! Any issues with the Fox face? I've always wanted one but known they can turn into a nightmare

^So far so good with the foxface. Loves hair algae and He follows the Yellow Eye Kole Tang around the tank all day.

Yep. ATO is the Tunze. Standard 10 gallon tank sitting on a shelf above sump with the pump dropped into it and level sensor in sump. 10 gallons last up to 8 days before needing to be refilled. I do not have it plumbed directly to RO/DI, so I do have to stretch a hose to top off - easy to do each week as part of tank maintenance.

My foxface is the same.

It will devour any algae that is on the rock.
I added a piece of rock from my sump that had bubble algae, and the foxface picked it clean in minutes.

And my foxface believes he's a tang also.
It will patrol my tank with a Kole Tang and a Lemonpeel Mimic Tang.
The three of them are never very far from each other.

Does your foxface do the "air-breathing" behavior?
Mine will go to the surface, take a gulp of air and pass it over the gills.
Apparently, normal behavior for the species.

^Yep. "pops" at the top of the water grabbing air sometimes. Had me wondering for a while, figured he was just bored or something and trying to get my attention. :)

Sweet! I'm in the middle of a 180 build with no room for an ato. That pic just gave me a sigh of relief!

I think I'll definitely try a foxface

Nice setup and like the way you maximized the usable space in the sump area.

I loved my Foxface and had it for a while with no problems. Then out of no where it decided it wanted to eat my zoas....LOTS of my zoas! It didn't matter how much it was fed or how many times per day, it would go eat them right after feeding the tank! I will not risk my corals to one ever again!

Been looking to add an elegance for a while now, finally picked one up and dropped it in the tank this week...

Goes like a bad joke: What do you get when you combine an 8 day trip and a power outage? A few punch lines could read: :micro: A house that smells worse than old sweaty gym socks you found in the bottom of your locker. A Pissed off wife. A grown man cry. A gut wrenching, come home late to see a white soupy mess and you get to stay up late cleaning it all up. So...Ummm, yeah -that just happened...but hey, the battery powered feeder worked great and kept dumping in food! No root cause on why breaker tripped, but it did. No, I didn't have someone stopping by daily, and I never did get that Neptune controller hooked up to Wi-Fi with dynamic IP tracking so I could check on it or get e-mail alerts. First time this has ever happened to me in all my years of aquarium keeping. Ouch. :brick:

Jury is out on whether I get a new permit to rebuild. New role at work is resulting in more travel too. May need to just stick with the 2 smaller tanks with my kids and call it a small victory that I don't have to tear those down this weekend.

Kick in the nuts. Sad to see this, man.
GFCI trip or the entire breaker?

This is one of my biggest fears. I have all of my external access figured out, fortunately. If you need help, holler. I also have a remote monitoring system that will call me if it loses power, it is something people buy for their cabins. I put that on the tank circuit. With VOIP phone from comcast, I need to have the booster and the modem on a UPS too. Then, my vortechs are on battery backup too. I still paid my niece to house sit for our last trip. I know I won't survive coming home to what you just did. My wife would kill me.

Good luck, Jeff. Hope you can get your fix from the small tanks while you recover from this. Holler if you set up again, I will hook you up with what I can when you do.

A kick in the nuts is right! And even add in a punch to the back of the head.
Hard times like these teach all of us valuable lessons that make us stronger and more aware.
At least you can continue with the two smaller tanks.
We all know the temptation to get back what we've lost. Good luck.
