I have learnt a lot from TCMAS and now its my turn to document this build.

At the outset I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this wealth of knowledge.

We all love pictures! thanks to everyone who has posted pictures online, its more than what a thousand words can describe not to mention how easy it becomes think of the possibilities when looking at something. I will keep this thread documented with pictures. This will also be my pictures thread now :beerchug:

Tank move went smoothly over the weekend. Had some awesome help with stong arms and backs to move the 180G out and the 240G in. Thanks to Lowersmybp and Merkurfan for helping with the move. Thanks are also due for others who offered to help or be on standby if needed.

Picked up some caribsea special grade Arag, this is in addition to a bag I already had sitting with me for a while. Lots of live rock cured and ready to go.

Now thats its inside the stand needs to be finished otherwise with would've not come through the door :micro: once thats out the way we will get cracking on the aquascape.

We also found out after the move that all in all its a job well done so far, our 3 year old reviewed the progress and provided his thumbs up. Well worth all the trouble!

Pics will be posted soon :beerchug:

You did tell him he could not swim in it right? ;)

The approval was forthcoming only after the first livestock ;) was added to the tank. The inspection included the exterior view and workmanship and insides for strength and any lose ends  I hope this does not require an inspection/certification after the water is in

update time -

First off thanks to folks who helped with move! it was the smoothest move I've seen :beerchug: it would've been a challenge with out the help.

I had to leave the stand unfinished to make sure it will fit through the door. Once inside it will be finished by adding doors and trim. The stain was selected to match other furniture in the area.

the stand was also sized to be not taller than the current 34" as the tank is mostly viewed when sitting or its the kids that watch it standing. It was very important for us to ensure that the stand would be at a height where the kids will easily view the tank as they grow. Besides being a hobby the tank will also serve as an educational tool. :beerchug:

There is enough room under the tank to fit a standard 180 (the bottom may need to be reinforced though) and a large skimmer like the Vertex Alpha 300, although it would be a tight fit.

Other criteria when designing the stand was geometry, its designed to be symetric all the way around. given that the tank is starfire all four sides it can be setup as a peninsula tank if needed, the stand/canopy are designed keeping this aspect in mind.. no mods will be needed if I ever want to move to a peninsula look. for now its going up against the wall in the same spot as the previous tank.
