As far as progress on the 40 there has been some changes as of late.
After adding some montipora to the system my flame angel decided it was his personal buffet.
In that case I took it upon myself to remove everything from the system to remove him and use it as an opportunity to re-scape the display
I decided to go with a more open look on this and give all of the new monti's room to grow, I have decided to go in another direction with the 40 as I recently picked up a 6x54watt t5 fixture and am looking to stock with all different types of monti. As my collection grows I am sure the tank size will also and the new fixture will be sufficient to put over the new system when the time comes.
With running chaeto in the display I have noticed no detectable nitrate or phosphate in the tank. I am also running a fluval 306 canister with chemi pure elite for supplemental removal just to be safe.
Also in the last three months I have been dosing kalk and stopped 2 part which I have noticed great growth on all of my sps and levels have maintained well.
As for fish in this system I have
1-Snowflake ocellaris
1-Algae blenny
2-Baby tank raised Banggai cardinals
Just picked up a pair - yellow prawn goby + tiger pistol shrimp
Oh and a large clean up crew..

Update on the breeder . weekend project I added a sump to the system and rid the fluval canister. Also in the process of ordering a reef octopus 4" in sump skimmer as well as a reef keeper lite. Should have them installed next weekend.

Welcome to the sump world, it looks great. How does your overflow work? How is the filter sock attached to the return?

Being that the tank was already set up I just went with a hang on back over flow. And right now the filter sock is just attach with a zip tie

This weekend I decided to remove all chemi pure from the system. I purchased carbon and some media bags along with purigen and "the bag" I built a rack out of light diffuser to hold the purigen and carbon under my skimmer outlet for flow through the media and i will be monitoring the phosphate and nitrates to see what changes if any take place in the system ..
Also since switching to reef crystals I have seen much more stability and higher consistent levels of ca and mag. I am hoping to have my new skimmer installed shortly

Just added my reactor this week and I am running out of sump space ! Time for an upgrade and a new skimmer things are going well with the 40 and corals are thriving .. A bit of loss in color on a few monti caps .. Not sure why .. May be all of the recent changes in light, filtration and media .. Running gfo and carbon together for now in the reactor soon will be adding another reactor so I will be able to spilt up the two ... Also added a new aqua auto smart ato to the system and very pleased with it so far ... As well as an addition of 1- mp10 and replacing three koralia pumps .. Loving the room and flow .
