Figured I might as well post here if I'm going to document my 1st tank anyways.

Started in the basement to reinforce the floor where the tank will sit in the ground floor living room.

Moved stuff out of the way. Demolished the decorative green wood paneling. Stained and mounted the backboard for pipes/equipment.

Then I made a stand for my RO/DI and Saltwater Tanks.

Can’t wait to see this come together! So the 55 will be upstairs, directly above the mixing station or?

Looking forward to seeing this come together.

The new tank came in chipped so I got RedSea to send me a new one. The replacement just came in today. I'll get the stand up and set the tank tomorrow when I have additional muscle to help. Also, I set up a new countertop for a QT area.

Yikes, I should hope they would replace it. That’s gotta be super disappointing though. I’m excited to see it as it comes together.

Also, I made the rockwork and got sand into the tank. Forgot to take into consideration the depth of the sand when making the rockwork and some smaller crevices and ledges got buried. I added too much sand initially so I will take some out to adjust the levels.

Nice, good progress for sure. As you mentioned, I would definitely remove some of that sand, or it may cause you issues on the future with “gunk” deep in those thick areas.

Also, I like the overall look of your scape, but I’m a little worried about all the vertical faces on the left structure. I think generally people try to stay away from super vertical structures, as it’s harder to mount corals on the sides. Do you think that piece could work rotated 90 degrees clockwise? It might make a cool natural arch, and give you a ton of surface for corals.

Either way I’m sure will work, just a thought. Thanks for the update, keep them coming!
