75w are good for 16-26 gallon tanks - my water volume is more like 40-45 gallons : (

Volume doesn't really matter it's surface area/heat loss potential of the system that determines the heater sizing needed. Screen tops/open tops really crank up the heater needs.

Use 2 75w heaters.

I use 2x 200w heaters for 700 gallons, it's all about heat loss potential.

Considering I am using glass tops on it - the 75w as a secondary should work fine.

Pretty sure I have a Finnex Titanium from my first set up that has less than 2 years use on it I could use as primary then.....

wait, did marty just volunteer helpful information in Angie's thread without a side comment or sarcasm?

Must have been hijacked was my thought

Rustled around in my aquarium loot and I have a Finnex Deluxe 300 with HC 0800 controller - covers 40-80 Gallons. That and the 75w Jager should be perfect.

Thanks all!

Angie - read my last started thread on the Finnex Titanium heaters.
They're bomb-diggity.

And, since the controller part is separate, they're smaller, too. Huzzah.

Getting there - i'm currently working on getting the Apex and all electronics added/set up then want to run it for a few days to make sure my coding is all correct. Should be ready by Expo time!!!!

Tonight -

working on getting my Apex online and configured
Getting my AI Vega installed with mounting bracket
Add/replace heaters
Cord organization

Who wants to come play tanks with me? Free beer....oh and blueberry bread - fresh out of the oven!

Ain't you a network admin or some type of respectable geek?

Yes, which is why I hate having to come home and "work".

Also - I bought this Apex off a member like 6 months ago - while I did check to make sure I have all the Apex components - I didnt check that all cables were included. Missing a 12v power adapter, network cable and phone cable.

Damn lucky I keep all sorts of these on hand or I would have been pretty ticked off.

Note to self and others - check for EVERYTHING after a purchase

You don't actually need the 12v, it can be powered by the male-male sub cord off the power bar. 12v is good for running the apex for sending power outage text messages. Keep the router and modem on a ups too... :)

Phone cable... This a current model or old unit? Pic looks like current. Phone is the temp sensor I think.
