The wife and I have been discussing hosting another meeting its been at least 5 years
Screwtape - not sure which water line you’re referring to but I can tell you I have changed the supply 3 times and now have plans of building my own diffuser as I was not happy with my original eductor idea results.
Finished the trolleys and track tonight. Got the lights wired and hung. I still need to finish my serial com ports on the wall so I can plug everything in. You can see the open wires in the back ground. Got the com lines and power lines for the power bars temped for now. Just nice to be able to set up to control logic and not have to remember to turn the lights on and off.
And a few more pics
Hmmm I thought I was seeing the water line on the front panel an inch or two under the wood trim. If that's not the top of the water I'm not sure what I'm looking at, I need to get my eyes checked...
Nice light system, great to be able to get those all the way out of the way.
Screwtape - Ahhh now I understand you are correct the water line when not making waves is resting about an inch below the wood trim. Theres enough oommff in the pump that I can simply adjust the height by opeing the gate valve a few turns. Haven't quite made all my decisions on wave height etc.. so I have been erring on the low side until all the programing is done.
First off I would just like to continue to say thank you for all the kind words.
I have had some fun with the tank the last few weeks finally. Got my back room cleaned up. I’ve added several fish and corals. I added a BRS GFO / Carbon Reactor.
I found a very cool tank back ground or at least I like it. I used the sea view adhesive and enhancer on it and it really brightened up the tank as well as added some better depth perception. The convex shape seems to be making things in the tank look 20% ish closer. Started adding my clean up crew I am going to need a lettuce nudi to help with algae as I continue to dial things in and add animals.
Oh and did I mention I got a Sting Ray !!! totally pumped it’s been with us since Friday. It is eating everything I throw in the tank. Seems to be interacting well with everything in the tank. We did have a jumper Friday night not sure if its related to the ray but gulpie the sand sifting golbe will be missed. How the heck it managed to hit the 1” opening around the lights and tank is beyond me. But never the less it appears pond netting needs to be added to the to do list. Here are some pictures & a short vid
Well I definitely limited myself on the cleaner shrimp ability to say the least. I imagine I could possibly get away with some shrimp right now do to the rays size and the extremely porous rock work. The ray really has to work hard to eat a 1/3 piece f krill. It’s pretty cool to watch it burry itself up to just its eyeballs and lie in wait for something.
I’m glad I stuck with the sugar sized sand when setting up. There is some caution to be taken with the rays under belly because it’s so soft.
And while I may not be able to have some of the sand sifting things I originally may have purchased I was pleasantly surprised by how much clean up is happening from the ray fanning the sand bed and getting thing back into the water column.
It may be hard to tell from the pictures but the only rock work against the back is the center rock. Otherwise there is 6 – 12 inches of sand around the two outside islands.
The ray is very agile and will swim up to the top of the tank during feeding. I’ll try and get some video of it cruising the rock work it glides over the structures quite easily.
I’ve always been a mixed reef kind of guy and well this should mix it up. I haven’t been this excited about a reef purchase in years.
