So I’m always talking about good flow for acros being strong but diffused. Think big propeller but low speed. You want the polyps wiggling but not folding too much. Finally captured a good video of a very happy frag with good resolution.

Every tank is different. I have waves of good and bad PE and I think it’s related to planktonic cycles or nutrient Waves.

I also just watched a YouTube video from POTO last night. It wasn’t specifically about flow but just about his sps grow out tray in general. So he did talk about flow. And had some video shots of polyps flowing. No doubt he has WAY more flow than me. It was eye opening. And something for me to think about for sure. But this is helpful, thanks Ben.

For sure. And I think flow needs scale up with colony size and light/nutrient levels. My bigger colonies are getting blasted a lot more than this one but growth to me is the telltale sign of health.
Watched the same video and the promptly added another gyre to my frag tank. LOL

What I find is sometimes adding more powerheads makes more flow where there is already flow and less flow where there isn’t because the powerheads fighting prevents full circulation.
The best setups I’ve ever had is with powerheads that either stop completely or spin down really low. Maxi jets and Jebaos to be specific. My darn MP40s down slow down enough for my liking so they prevent a full alternating gyre.
