why did you places the tank end side faceing the window? i thought you would of placed next to a wall and cover up the gaps, so it would seem like the tank was extend from the wall...are you going to make some kind of box to cover up the pcv by the overflow box?

where did you buy the shoulder moving straps? i cant find those for the life of me

Well pure placement of the room and the size of the tank. That picture shows the view you see looking through the double doors which I can see from the living room. I wanted to be able to walk around the tank which is why it's peninsula. Honestly the window shades will rarely be open and I'm not worried about viewing my tank from outside :) The stand itself will be finished eventually. Actually I plan on making a post looking for someone that does tile work because I want to skin and tile the stand. You'll never see the plumbing unless you go around the rear.

I got them from Northern Tool Company off of i35. They were on sale too which was nice. They were the only reason the tank went in so easily.

Nothing new has really happened. My parents have been in town since wednesday and I've got a classic car I've been doing some work on all weekend. All that and a frag swap makes for a crazy week.

Classic car you say? What kind?
Well I have two, 66 Lincoln Continental and a 73 corvette. The Corvette is what I'm working on. Last fall something broke so I tore the engine apart right before it got cold and then it got cold so fast it sat all winter. Since Thursday I put an aluminum flywheel, new clutch and today got the engine back together. Something still is not right though :( It's a 383 with weiand roots style blower and dual side mounted weber carbs.

nice car, i used to have a 82 corvette! the C3 is the best corvette in my opinion!

Just a little progress. I ran some extra electrical in the basement. 4 GFCI outlets behind the sump and then next to the frag tank one regular (for halides) and one GFCI.

I played with the overflow a little tonight. I need to go get some plumbing stuff tomorrow before I can really do much. I'm going with the Herbie method. I also put the two mp40's in the tank tonight just to play with. I originally wanted to put them on the same end as the overflow but that's not going to really work with the plumbing and overflow. We'll see.

I built a pretty ghetto stand for the water tanks. I just wanted to get it off of the floor a little. It's ghetto because the ply top doesnt really match up with the frame. I was just using a leftover piece I had and cut it with no guide and a circular saw :)

I was just thinking through some of the plumbing for the water tanks. The pump on the left is for the water tanks. The pump on the right is going to replace one of the bigger return pumps I have. I've got a good amount of head but the beast of pumps I bought handle it better than I calculated. I'll keep one big one because it will also provide the flow to the fuge whenever I get around to that.

So I've looked over your entire thread and I see one major thing missing. You've done all this wonderful work and you have yet to sit back, drink a beer, and admire your progress. Get on it pronto and you better get pictures to prove it! :beerchug:

No beer until she is done. Then I'm going to put a life jacket on and get hammered near the tank.

Bottoms up! :beerchug:

Ok,

So the ghetto water tank stand I built bothered me all day. I built a new, much better one and finally did the plumbing for the water tanks.

The freshwater (right) will gravity drain down and I have a pump that can either provide circulation for the saltwater or pump in more fresh water. I'll have a couple other outlets for filling jugs and such. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for my ATO for both the main tank and frag tank. It will clearly be driven by the water tanks I just havent thought it out yet. Right now I'm just manually adding everyday.

I moved the RO/DI machines into the middle of the tanks. Next I need to tap in after my water softener (thanks TCMAS) and run two lines to them. Then I'll make all the tubing nice and neat. I also need to get a booster pump for my air/water/ice RO/DI because the water is so cold and the pressure is lower. The puratek already has a pump.

All this building the stand, sniffin pvc cement/purple primer, plumbing and I still beat clint on the Scoly's from Ray today :)

Do you have enough room to remove the RO housings while the units are on the wall between the tanks? The lazy in me says you should make changing the filters/DI as easy as possible, like where you had them mounted before to the left of the tanks.

Keep up the good work!
