Anemone walked into my MaxiJet powerhead (1 Viewer)

I wasnt going to post this as I feel like a moron. I totally know better than this. I decided to share my experiance to help others not make the same mistake.

Sad day - I was planning on putting a sponge on the intake sooner or later - I shouldnt have waited

My nem decided to take a walk to the complete other side of the tank from where he has been happy for the last month.

This is how I found him today. He was able to pull himself with the cover off and get away from the PH. I cant pull the MJ cover out of it as its wedged in too tight.

I'm hoping it will split soon to recover. Appears the foot has not been damaged and as you can see, 2/3 or more of it appears to be healthy/ok.

I did a 10 gallon water change and put a Tunze nano in there (moved it up the wall for now). The MJ intake was in the middle of the tank right behind the rock he crawled onto.

More than likely will throw the MJ back in with a sponge later.

I'm a jerk, I totally knew better than this and now my poor nem is paying the price.

If he doesnt make it - I wont be putting another one in this tank

He will be fine I have had this happen a few times just let him figure out how to get out of it and keep your water quality up and you will be good

I have seen people do worse to their anemones on purpose (butcher knife sounds familiar) with a good outcome.

It's actually looking really good. I recently massacred THREE small nems with a HOB filter who's strainer fell off in the middle of the night. None of them made it. I hate powerheads.

Actually - that is a clone, of a clone from your nem!! Clowns are protecting it like ya wouldnt believe!!

Your title is wrong. Nems don't walk. They might hop, but they only have one foot.

It should be fine. It'll probably split for you turning your mistake in to profit so you can put a nem guard on that powerhead.

Just because this seems to have turned out well for Angie, those who do not have anemone safe tanks beware. They often don't have a happy ending. Usually thousands of dollars of coral lost.

In my experience, if the foot is ok, and the nem is mostly intact, it should be ok. I would do a water change and make sure to syphon out any icky pieces though.
