I was on another website and this link came up for the light and price. Very tempting... I've been chatting with someone on their facebook page about the light but still very skeptical... There ebay link has a higher price but has all positive feedback for people who purchased the light.

What do you guys think, to good to be true?

well I think since they released the Vega now, they might be trying to unload the older sol. I paid 399 for my SOL back last April. I don't think it's too good to be true. Especially if their feedback is good.

I'm so tempted to just buy one, but it still seems like the price is to good to be true... the guy I chatted with on the facebook page says the price will go back up to the original price once his stock runs out.

I dont think its too good to be true its still expensive in my opinion 299.99 for one fixture and you'll need more than one for a bigger tank. It could possibly be a promotional or something.

Great price then you can use that money to buy the controller... Very tempting but ill stick to MH for now.

The fixture is far from ground breaking from today's point of view. Cool Whites/ Blues / Royal Blues.

Especially when you consider 7-8 years down the road, I think your better off going with the more current model even if it costs more now. Seems a bit more versatile when you figure in how long you need to keep it to break even on costs.

I honestly don't think I could be satisified with the older model for anything but the short term.

So no I don't think it's too good to be true. Most people probably think along the same lines and so just wanting to get rid of overstock.

It'll go perfect over my 30 gallon shallow cube... I haven't seen the price that low anywhere yet.

That's true the money I save can go towards the controller...

What to do what to do...

the reason you havent seen prices that low yet is because sometimes certain stores will only have good deals like that so it helps boosts sales. It's like shopping at stores such as bestbuy, target, or microcenter. They each have their own pricing and some of them can get products from vendors at cheaper prices because they buy in bulk so they can lower the prices for customers and still make some profit.

David with the SOLS you can upgrade to the vega for $250 Which would still be cheaper than straight up buying a Vega. He could also buy it now and save up to upgrade later. This is the BIG reason I went AI sol. Unlike any other LED fixture, where you're stuck buying an entire new module.

That fixture is probably cheaper right now due to a sale, and it's the white one. A lot of people prefer the Black one, so the white went down in demand for a while.

I was looking at the new Vega too...

Very true.

I'll wait and see what happens.

$300, isn't like they are giving it away. If you're confortabley with reviews and feedback on the company, I'd do it.

As technology and products evolve, there's always going to be something better. You have to decide if the Sol meets your needs. Seems like the latest craze now is for the multicolor fixtures like the Vega. I just bought a Sol for my 34g cube and it's more than enought light for me but it was the super blue model. The one you linked to is a white model. They may have a lot of them on hand and finding that they are moving a little slow now because fo the super blue Sol and new Vega.

Aqua Illumination has IMO, kept it's prices artifully high by not allowing dealers to show discounted prices, at less up til now. I negociated a price of $340 so obviously there's a profit margin at something less than the $399 MSRP.

You can also upgrade each and every light. All you have to do is buy the discounted kit. remove a few screws, and it's plug and play. you can even start ordering your own custom color led pucks if you want. Obviously even on sale it's still expensive but, unlike every other LED unit. Your not stuck with one model. You can change it however you want, and upgrade it to the next new best led as it comes out. :greenguy:

The one linked is super blue in the white casing. I'm planning on using it over my 30g shallow so it should meet my needs.

I was just reading about the ability to upgrade the fixtures, I think that's a great feature and one of the reasons I will probably pick one up with the controller.

Just make sure to get the NEW controller. Same price as the original, but way better, plus wireless capable!

Yea just put the order in for the AI SOL Super Blue fixture and wireless controller. Just read that the wireless adapter is sold separately and the site was not selling it. I'll have to find one somewhere else.

yeah it comes to be hard wired. AI hasn't released the wireless adapter yet, nor have they released the VEGA upgrade kit. Should be out sometime this year.
