Aside expense, is there an advantage or disadvantage of adding 3/8" glass or plexiglass baffles to the sump? Thanx for your opinion.

The disadvantage of using acrylic to baffle your sump is that it is prone to flex/warp over time. Glass is cheaper, and will form a stronger glass-silicone-glass bond as opposed to a glass-silicone-acrylic bond.

The advantage is that acrylic is easy to cut at home if you want to make changes. I have never had warp issues using the 3/8" thick sheets.

I highly recommend white bear lake glass. They cut me four 1/4" thick glass baffles for my 30 gallon Sump for $26 bucks. The baffled were the perfect size, and they even finished the edges with a nice rounded bevel.

Did they cut the bottom corners so they would fit nicely into the tank too?
