How long would a APC Back-UPS XS 1500VA power a Tunze 6105?
I have a chance to get one with a new battery for around $100.00 and I was trying to find out if it would be a good thing to have in case of a power outage? How long would it run things?

Here's a link to the UPS.
http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=bx1500

Tunze Specifications:

* Turbelle® stream 6105
* Energy consumption: max. 45 W.
* Voltage / frequency: 100 – 240 V / 50 – 60 Hz.

what would be the best wat to this?
Thanks for the help

Terry

I'm not sure what the difference between an XS and and RS is but, using the APC UPS Selector, choosing 'Miscellaneous Device' and putting in the parameters of your Turbelle with the requirement of 8 hours of runtime, the selector put out the option of the Back-UPS RS 1500VA and listed it's runtime at 217 minutes.

Otherwise, this website outlined how to do the calculation but I could not determine how many cells the battery had.

thanks for the link it helped alot.
3.6 hours isn't that long but if I used a smaller pump it might get better runtime.

Some people use Car batteries and a converter for battery backup... I have heard that they can run pumps for quite a long time if needed to.

That Xantrex 400w one that has been talked about in previous posts would be a real good choice and runtime wouldn't be an issue. Only problem is the price recently went up from $130 w/free shipping up to $185 + shipping. So those that got one earlier got a good deal.
