Bio film (1 Viewer)

Call capman, toss some under the scope and then respond once you know what it is.

Hmmm. May or may not be related to the growth on the rocks, but something certainly seems to be wrong in your tank.

I just replied to your PM (before reading your update that I just replied to above). Actually, this Tuesday could work (same time as I said in the PM for the following Tuesday), though I have another person stopping by then for some frags. If you can wait while we take care of that, we could take a look at your film or whatever it is then.

Again, there's no guarantee that I'll necessarily know what this stuff is, but we could probably determine whether it is some sort of bacteria, vs dinoflagellates (which are very distinctive under a scope) or other sort of protist, vs, well I don't know what. This would not narrow it down very far, but it could be a start.

If there is something awry with your system, it could very well be that this growth is a consequence of those conditions rather than the cause - this growth may or may not be a causative factor in your coral sickness (and I doubt that I would have any way of knowing).

Clear film on live rock

I am having the same issue. It is a clear film that almost feels sponge-like. It does not appear to be harming anything in my reef tank at all. All my numbers are within normal parameters and everything (fish, corals, anemone) appears healthy and happy.

I'm not sure if I should be concerned or not?
