I ended up finishing up around 12 or 1 but I am "satisfied" as of this morning how everything is looking the rock and corals need better placement but that is good enough for now
So far it looks like everything went well, I may have lost a 2" frag of milepora a green monti and 2 heads of red and green acan but I am hoping they bounce back, everything else has opened up and is looking great this morning
Here are some pictures
Sorry about the quality but in the haste I forgot my reef link at the apartment so I can't change the color of my LEDs right now I will get some better pictures up this afternoon
Thanks I know I will have to do it again in 5-10 years but we will be designing and building our next house so I'm hoping to design it with a fish room and in wall tanks so I will just have to transfer livestock and not the actual tanks.
The 90 is setup where it will go just need to skin the front of the stand now and I will be good to go on this tank.
Today was the day! I got the tank after weeks and weeks of mutual pushing it back waiting for better weather (thanks again Jon for being so understanding)
Progress has been much slower than anticipated as I am still getting equipment together and motivation to work on that rather than house stuff that is needed, house purchases so far have trumped fish ones for the most part but I still am able to set a little aside for new upgrades and necessities.
The 90 is going through some algae issues which I am battling with basting the rocks and water changes, I purchased some red slime remover as a last resort but don't want to use it if I don't have to at this point. Hopefully things will get better if I continue to stay on track with my weekly maintenance.
The 160 upstairs is basically just holding rodi at this point, the celing downstairs needs to be re-drywall before I can finish plumbing the sump, I hope to have that done in the coming weeks so that I can get rock cycling and hopefully make the transfer sometime in July. At least that is the goal for now, tank stand skinning in the brick will happen after it is full and I am confidant that I like how high it is and where we put it in the room.
Haven't updated this for a bit, but I have been having some massive issues with tank maintenance, I went out of town for 2 weeks and my red slime algae disappeared only to be replaced by crazy amounts of hair algae lol, taking it in stride and making it motivate me to finally pay attention to my tank rather than my yard and get that 150 up and running!
If anyone has any pukani they are looking to get rid of I would definitely be interested and if anyone here actually enjoys taping and muding/sanding Sheetrock I would love your help! All I need to do is replace the ceiling but at this point there are so many things that are more fun to do than that
I was finally able to do some testing and I really need to get my tank back on track :/ this working 70+ hours a week is great for the fish budget but is not good for my tank until I get some time off to be able to bring it back from the neglect. I got rid of my red slime s couple weeks ago only to be over run with hair algae. Manual pulling and dipping while getting my nutrients under control is going to be my goal to fix this.
My tests came back rough to say the least but with the 2 part dosing system I won a few months back I am going to set up a dosing schedule to keep these in the acceptable ranges
Today my alk was 4.6 and my calcium levels were 520 tested each three times and averaged them out using Hanna checkers
I am going to be bringing my alk up to 9 over the next 5 days as I don't want to go to fast which comes to about 60ml a day
I also was able to clean out both fish rooms today which made the misses happy
Lol yea it fit perfectly the doors even close but I took them off for easier access.
Do you dose magnesium? What should I be doing for that? I made up the solution but was unclear on when I was supposed to add it? Their video said to just dump in a whole container when I have used up the alk and calcium containers my magnesium level is currently 1850ppm
Finally had some time to start working on the 160, eventually I will start a build thread on it but for now here is a picture of the current progress. We painted the stand until we are able to decide what color brick we want to go with and put the stereo under to hide the plumbing and cords
I'm about 2 weeks into my cycle, I don't have it hooked up the the sump which is why the water level is so low right now but in the next few days I hope to have that done as well.
I went completely new nuked all rock that went into the tank and am going to cycle old school so that I can make sure nothing that I don't put/want in the tank gets in there.
Rock work is just about done just need a small island in the middle for Zoas which I'm debating that or the 3" frag disks and just burrying them in a bit of sand. I figure that way I can move and drag them very easily. I have the rock work set up for David's pegging method as this tank will be mainly sps and I want to have the ability to move things around as I gather more corals
