Can/should I CoralRx dip anemones? (1 Viewer)

I'd say no but this is not really based on any facts. Nem's are messy as they are a bag of water and pretty tough to deal with the water inside the animal itself.

Can't say I've heard about pests on nems. Rinsing the nem in a bucket transfer or two should remove any external koodies. Internally I think it would have digested any bugs by the time you drop it in.

Plus the thoughts of chemicals and nems really sounds bad.

I would lean no, as nems tend to "absorb" whatever you may dip them in or dose them with, which can really mess with their biology / chemistry.

I dont know specifically about coralRx but a traditionally safe iodine dip for corals results in iodine poisoning for nems.

I'm guessing we're talking about larger anemones here. (bubble tips and such)

How about mushroom and ricordea anemones?
I have dipped these in coral rx when I bought them and they did fine. They are usually attached to a rock or substrate, so it seems risky to just throw it in the tank without dipping.

Just curious Travis, What does New Wave do as far as pest control when you get in shipments? ( sorry to put you on the spot)

Somebody has had to have tried dipping a bubble tip before.

What we do largely depends on what the animal is, what potentially comes in on them, what potential harm can be done vs what we are dipping for.
