I just picked up a really cool crocea clam from swe and was wondering if I have to supplement it with plankton or something. It looks like its about 2-3 inches. I know when they are larger they mostly live off of good lighting, and I'm not sure if mine is at that point yet.

Thanks:goldfish:

The main key is good water quality and good lighting. After that they will need proper levels of Cal., Alk. and Mag. As far as feeding is concerned, just turkey baste you rock work every once and a while, feed your fish adequately and the clam will get plenty of food.

should be fine with just lighting. I've heard you can "clog" the more light-happy clams by feeding them too much/too big of stuff.

I typically feed a frozen mix about 5 times a week and dry or flake food 2 or 3 times. So at what size do they become less of a filter feeder, over 2 inches?

This is good to know i just picked up one from SWE my self :beerchug:

lets see if i can add a pic

i have the identical clam and 5 months ago it was 3 inches. now its 5. i feed my tank PE everyother day and flakes the oposite day of that. I blast my rocks every other week and have never target fed my clam. He is very very responsive. Is in a medium flow zone on the bottom with 6 T5s and its mantle is fully extended every day all day.
