Concept AC JR settings (1 Viewer)

Why don't you have your kalk set to dose 24/7 with the program set to keep your kalk between 8.3 and 8.4 (just an example), and cut out two part all together? If your dosing doesn't keep up with Ca and Alk demands add vinegar. If your sump doesn't evaporate enough add fans. etc...etc...?

Dosing at night is keeping up with my evap demands. I'm trying the vinegar now, if that isn't enough, then I'll add a fan to evap more. Still getting it dialed in. :)

back to topic: Can you wire the float top-off to two outlets, controlled by the ACJR? I'm not an electrician by any means, but have ideas that I'd like to try.

High PH should be the exception and not the rule. You shouldn't need to have a seperate RO container it defeats the purpose somewhat as you really want to maximize the amount of Kalkwasser you can dose. I've been dosing all my tanks with Kalkwasser for over 5 years and have yet to find it necessary to add ro and kalk seperately as you describe.

So my assumption that getting too much calcium/alk in an attempt to keep PH high isn't really an issue?

Keep your ca/alk at the proper levels and you pH should be fine.

If you CA/Alk is too high that's an easy fix just use something less than saturation levels ( 2 teaspoon per gallon ) of Kalk.

I don't consider 8.3-8.4 a High PH. When you start getting over 8.6 then your starting to get into the uncomfortable zone.

Sorry, just to get it strait: If your mag/cal/alk are all in order, your Ph can not drop too low, right?

I would think you still wouldn't want it to be below 8.0-8.1 for any length of time (days/weeks). Daily dips/peaks don't sound to be as bad though.

dosing kalk particularly at night whe PH normally is at it's lowest, PH will never be a concern. The Jr. has data logging in it so you can review your nightly values at preset intervals ( that you program ). I use every 30 minutes. When I used to dose kalk only at night my PH is actually higher in the morning than it is in the evening when the ligths are about to turn off. Never got lower than 8.3 and stayed very consistant. Now that I have refuge on 24/7 and the frag tank on opposite cycle as the show I really don't have a night light cycle so now dose 24/7.

Data logging does just fine for my needs, I only check it ocassionally. It becomes pretty predicatable over time to where you really don't need to chart.

if you're really cool like me you buy the AC computer program so you can use your computer to chart out your temp and ph swing per hour, day, week, month, etc..

or download the free one Be warned though, the program crashes frequently. And charting loses it's appeal quickly as the interface sucks IMO. It's useable, but stupid.
